When he beat off famous names to take the part of vampire heartthrob Edward Cullen in the screen adaptation of Stephenie Meyer’s award-winning novel, Twilight, relative unknown and Brit Robert Pattinson had no idea what to expect. Over a year later, the 22-year-old has won a place on bedroom walls of teenage girls across the world, and become a mover and shaker in Hollywood, and all without wearing a pair of fangs. How did that happen? David Grove caught up with him to find out more ...
... Are you looking forward to doing a sequel?

... Are you looking forward to doing a sequel?
Yes, we all are. When I first got this part, I hadn’t read the book, and then I read the first book, and then the other books and it amazed me how this world that Stephenie created just kept expanding and expanding. The possibilities are limitless and I love the second book.
When I signed on to the film the Twilight phenomenon wasn’t as big as it is now, so this has caught all of us by surprise. The whole thing is twice as crazy as it was when we started work on the film. I’d like to do more films until we get to that Midnight Sun story because that’s all about my character and I’m really interested to find out more about Edward.

Premiering Friday, January 16 '09 at 10pm on the SciFi Channel (and repeated at Midnight, and again on Jan 17 '09 at 9:30am), the Battlestar Galactica episode, 'Sometimes a Great Notion.' (Hmmm...either David Weddle and Bradley Thompson have/or have NOT read the Ken Kesey novel or seen the Paul Newman flick based on the novel. Either way, if the title is symbolic of the novel and/or movie, this may be a REALLY creepy episode.)

'Invasion' & 'Moonlight' premiere Jan 23 '09 on SciFi Channel
At SciFi.com:
INVASION
Premieres Friday, January 23 '09 at 8/7C on SciFi Channel (US).
When an unexpectedly devastating hurricane strikes South Florida, a small town's inhabitants literally find their lives turned upside down. But for dedicated park ranger Russell Varon, a divorced father of two who recently married television reporter Larkin Groves, the storm proves to be merely a backdrop for something far more sinister. Always skeptical about the paranoid conspiracy theories of his shiftless brother-in-law, Dave, Russell may have to revise his thinking when a number of bizarre occurrences start taking place in his community.
And when it appears that the Sheriff, Tom Underlay, may somehow be involved, a series of personal alarms goes off for Russell and his family because the sheriff is married to Russell's ex-wife, Dr. Mariel Underlay, chief of staff at the local hospital and mother of Russell's two children.
This chilling drama comes from famed writer/executive producer Shaun Cassidy who previously worked on Cold Case, American Gothic and The Agency and multiple Emmy Award-winning director Thomas Schlamme of The West Wing, ER, and Sports Night fame. Eddie Cibrian of Third Watch, William Fichtner of Black Hawk Down and Kari Matchett of Angel Eyes star.
MOONLIGHT
Premieres Friday, January 23 '09 at 9/8C on SciFi Channel (US).
Mick St. John is a charming private investigator from Los Angeles with a dark secret. Sixty years ago on the night of his wedding, his bride, the seductive Coralin, bit him, turning him into a vampire who will be eternally locked in the immortal world.
Forever 30 years of age, Mick is as handsome and charismatic as the day he was "turned," and he rejects others of his kind who view humans as nothing more than a source of nourishment. With only a handful of like-minded confidantes for company, including the wealthy and
mischievous Josef Kostan, Mick fills his infinite days protecting the living.
In a random twist of fate, Beth Turner, a mortal Mick saved when she was a little girl, grew up to be a beautiful and ambitious Internet Investigative Reporter who he's falling helplessly in love with. And although Mick feels a distinctive bond with Beth, he knows he can't
pursue his feelings without exposing the part of him that would make him a monster in her eyes.
In Moonlight we see Mick as a character who lives between two realities — an avenger dedicated to protecting humanity from the undead, and a immortal man falling dangerously in love.
Moonlight discovers the mysteries and pleasures that a valuable life has to offer.

Shanks Digs In Grand Canyon
Former Stargate SG-1 star Michael Shanks heads the cast of SCI FI's original movie The Lost Treasure of the Grand Canyon, but the actor told SCI FI Wire that he never quite made it to the Arizona landmark. Oddly enough, he pretty much ended up ... home.
In the period adventure/fantasy movie, Shanks plays Jacob Thain, an archaeolgist who joins the search for Dr. Samuel Jordon (Duncan Fraser), a fellow archaeologist who's gone missing in the Grand Canyon while searching for an ancient civilization. The rescue expedition, led by Dr. Jordon's daughter, Susan (Shannen Doherty), crosses through a wall that's protected by evil spirits, among them a winged serpent, as well as Aztec warriors with a habit of sacrificing humans. [Following] is an edited version of an interview with Shanks. The Lost Treasure of
the Grand Canyon airs Dec. 20 at 9 p.m. ET/PT.

How did this film come about?
Shanks: This period piece was brought forward, and we were going to film it in the Grand Canyon. I thought that would be very cool. I'd only ever done one period piece in my entire career, and the prospect of going to the Grand Canyon was pretty neat. And it was a fun adventure story, from what I read, with interesting visuals, with the archaelogy and the mythology, and the wardrobe was neat. It was more about the discovery and the journey, and it was an interesting character. I was daunted by playing yet another archaeologist, but, at
the same time, this character was very different in a lot of ways [from Stargate's Daniel Jackson].
