At GateWorld:
RISKY BUSINESS
GateWorld Talks with James Bamford
After years of working with the team at Stargate to bring you interviews and exclusive features, you eventually make a few friends. Undoubtedly one of the closer relationships we have built is with SG-1 fight coordinator and SGA / SGU stunt coordinator James "BAMBAM" Bamford.
Despite contributing to the site through the "Ask BAMBAM" forum thread and his blog, we have never taken the time to do a sit-down interview with the man. Why? His work on Stargate is extremely visual and we've been planning on shooting a video documentary of his work for years.
So until that time comes -- and it will -- we bring you this piece!
In this exclusive we learn of BAMBAM's initial years in acting and stunts, the character and mindset of a performer and preparing various SGU cast members for their intense roles, among many other topics. We talk about a stunt man's immense pride in his work, and the life and death events involved with the job.
This interview runs over 54 minutes and is available in audio. It's also transcribed {at the link above]!

Syfy has an historic October because of...well, you
Syfy said it's going to have a record-setting October based on the fact that you or someone you know is apparently watching just about every show they've been airing recently. We've included the entire press release below because they sent out so many highlights, but two key factors were the strong debut for Stargate Universe and the return of Sanctuary.
New York, NY - October 27, 2009 - Extending its summer ratings surge into fall, Syfy smashed yet another viewership record with its most watched October prime in history among total viewers (1,452,000), Adults 18-34 (308,000), Adults 18-49 (733,000), Adults 25-54 (797,000), Women 18-34 (141,000), Women 18-49 (356,000) and Women 25-54 (378,000).
Syfy jumped to #3 in A25-54 and #4 among A18-49 versus all basic cable entertainment networks - its second best monthly ranking ever in these demos behind December 2002 when Steven Spielberg's record-setting Taken premiered.
The record October performance was fueled by strong ratings from Stargate Universe and Sanctuary -- which both premiered this month -- Ghost Hunters and Destination Truth, the two highest-rated paranormal investigative series on television, along with the annual 31 Days of Halloween spook-a-thon.
Syfy also reported that in the Third Quarter, $75K+ A18-49 delivery increased by +21% vs. 3Q '08.
October Syfy Ratings Highlights (includes full viewing data)
... ♦ The first season of Stargate Universe is averaging a 2.1 HH rating, 2.85 million total viewers, 1.5 million A18-49, and 1.7 million A25-54. Compared to the last season of Stargate Atlantis, SGU is up +59% in A18-34, +41% in A18-49, +33% in A25-54 and +36% in total viewers.
... ♦ The second season premiere of Sanctuary delivered a 1.8 HH rating, 2.4 million total viewers, 493,000 A18-34, 1.25 million A18-49 and 1.5 million A25-54. This marks a series high performance in A18-34...

FEATURES
The Universe Interview – David Blue
Securing a regular role in Stargate Universe, actor David Blue found himself on a journey that took him far from his usual televisual stomping grounds. In the latest issue of Stargate Magazine, Blue gives us the lowdown on the Universe experience and discusses what makes his character Eli Wallace tick: “Eli knows he’s smart. He’s not a genius in that he was born an Einstein, but he can figure things out and see patterns in things. One of the reasons I think he has a good sense of humor is that he can see patterns in the world and find the humor in certain things. That’s who Eli is, and because he applied his intelligence to random things, he never truly found his way.”
The SG-1 Interview – Cliff Simon
From his first appearance, it was obvious that Ba’al was the villain of SG-1’s nightmares – and it’s no surprise that he’s just been voted the Stargate franchise’s best ever bad guy! Cunning, manipulative, and dangerous, he tormented our heroes to the last. The man behind the evil grin, Cliff Simon, recalls his reign of intergalactic villainy in the latest issue: “I loved it – the minute I put on the beautiful costumes that they made for me, Ba’al’s boots and all that kind of stuff, I just fell into the character – he really became a part of me. I think it was perfect – everything about it was just right. I could have carried on playing that character for another 10 years!”
Know your enemy: Villains of Stargate
There have been a variety of threatening groups hoping to wipe out the men and women of Stargate Command and Atlantis, or failing that, to take over their planet/galaxy/place of work. Marking a special Villains issue of Stargate Magazine, we present a guide to the best (and worst) Stargate villains. Plus, we take an inside glimpse of the workings of evil organization the N.I.D., complete with bonus notes from Richard Woolsey and General O’Neill...
