Stargate Atlantis - Yahoo TV: Top Ten Cable Series per Yahoo! Buzz

From Yahoo TV:

You know the lament: 500 channels and nothing to watch. To that we say, ease up the trigger finger on that remote control. Cable television, which turns 60 next year, offers up some of the best fictional dramas and comedies available. While premium channels still push the juiciest fares, original programming just keeps getting better on networks like F/X, Sci-Fi, and even ABC Family. So stop channel surfing and click through this slideshow to see the top 10 most searched for scripted cable series according to Yahoo! Buzz.

With Sci-Fi Channel’s okay, "Stargate: Atlantis" will be halfway to meeting its progenitor’s 10-year record for longest running science fiction series. The current season has familiar “Stargate SG-1” faces, but something even more exciting is coming soon: SGA action figures. Fully jointed toys should make the guys – who make up 62% of searches – happy.

Interviewer: Linda Craddock (SoSF Staff Journalist)

Kavan Smith is an actor and fan favorite who can fit almost any role he is given to play. He is most recognized for sci-fi and other genre-related venues, for which he excels, however, his range as an actor far exceeds just that one element of performing.

SoSF: The last time we saw "Lorne" was in "First Strike", the season finale. Will we see more of "Major Lorne" in the new season and do you get to work much with Amanda Tapping or Jewel Staite?

KS: I did in fact work with Amanda and Jewel though not at great lengths. Too bad. Lorne gets more responsibility this season. The role has become a bit more dynamic and the possibilities have really widened. I think that it really now gives Lorne a direction and not just relegated to being simply a secondary character.

SoSF: Tell us something about Kavan that most people don't know!

KS: [I] can recite Homeric poems in ancient Greek while juggling live grenades and chainsaws on a tightrope strung across the Grand Canyon. {Laughs} Nobody knew that.

Actor Joe Flanigan gives us the lowdown on his season three highlights, looks forward to another busy year with Sheppard, and tells us about his plans for Amanda Tapping: “Amanda’s wonderful and I love working with her – she’s a lot of fun. She has an unflappable kind of quality, but I’ll break her. Yes, I will break her.”

Savvy fans of Stargate: Atlantis will know that Jewel Staite has appeared in the show before – as the Wraith girl Ellia in the season two episode, Instinct. Now, after a stint as a genius mechanic on Firefly, she’s become a regular fixture in Stargate: Atlantis as Dr. Jennifer Keller. In this issue, Staite tells all about stepping into Carson's shoes: “Dr. Keller is incredibly smart, but she’s very humble about her intelligence. She’s the kind of doctor that’s really hands-on and I like to show how gentle she is with her patients”.

A Mitch In Time…

Actor Mitch Pileggi is no stranger to investigating extraterrestrials, the bizarre, and the paranormal – he played Assistant Director Skinner over nine seasons on the cult hit, The X-Files. Now, he’s back to engaging alien life forms as Colonel Steven Caldwell, the man responsible for helming The Daedulus and a more permanent fixture in Stargate: Atlantis since arriving to help save the city in The Siege Part III.
