Jason Momoa - At Home On Atlantis
By scifiandtvtalk
Some people say it’s the clothes that make the man. In the case of actor Jason Momoa, his dreadlocks are what first come to mind when you think of his Stargate Atlantis alter ego of Ronon Dex. After seven years, he was longing to shed his dreads, especially after they started to become a pain in the neck, quite literally. Unfortunately, because of his work on Atlantis, that was not an option, so a compromise was struck. The actor had his hair cut, but that meant wearing a wig as Ronon, which still had its drawbacks.
A brief excerpt:

Unfortunately, because of his work on Atlantis, that was not an option, so a compromise was struck. The actor had his hair cut, but that meant wearing a wig as Ronon, which still had its drawbacks.
A brief excerpt:
“When it comes to the acting, I’ve learned a great deal on Atlantis. I get really nervous on-camera, so I’ve tried to relax and slow down. This season I’ve had the chance to go much deeper into this character and really experiment with him. Broken Ties was a huge breakthrough for me, especially when it came to the scenes where I cried. I find it very difficult to cry, and as an actor you have to look inside yourself as much as possible and be aware of your emotions. Thank God I got to work with [director] Ken Girotti on Broken Ties, who’s incredible. He got me to relax and would say to me, ‘You know you can do this.’ When you’re on-set and, for example, the lighting people are doing their thing, the camera guys are moving the camera into place, and someone from make-up is powdering your face, it’s hard to channel your emotions. It takes a lot of practice, and I’m not good at getting all emotional and crying. Ken just came up to me and said, ‘Jason, you know what you want to do. You’re there, just relax.'"

Stargate - Joseph Mallozzi's Blog: Questions for Amanda Tapping?
From Joseph Mallozzi's blog update for February 21, 2009:
(Please follow the link for the complete blog update and to view photos of Stargate SG-1's Amanda Tapping, Christopher Judge, Michael Shanks, Gary Jones and Stargate Atlantis' Jason Momoa [previously posted].)
I'd travel light ears to see Amanda Tapping!
February 21, 2009: Fond Remembrances and a BIG Guest Blogger Announcement!
Whenever my career draws to its inevitable conclusion, I’ll be able to reflect back on the many fond memories of my time in “the business“. I‘ve had good times, bad times, and everything in between. That said, the high point for me were the years I spent working on Stargate: SG-1. They were memorable for a number of reasons, but chiefest among them were the incredibly talented and wonderfully generous people I was fortunate enough to collaborate with over the course of those seven years: my fellow writer-producers (especially Brad and Rob who gave us our first shot and showed us the ropes), the directors, the crew, and, of course, the cast - specifically, that core team of Richard Dean Anderson (Jack O’Neill), Amanda Tapping (Samantha Carter), Michael Shanks (Daniel Jackson), and Christopher Judge (Teal’c). These four were a pleasure to deal with both on and off the set and, in the ten years the show was on the air, they made fans of, not only the viewers at home, but the people they worked with as well. A couple of weeks back, I wrote: “If you want to get the real story and truly separate the princes from the pricks and the beauties from the bitches, then get to know the men and women who spend the greater part of their days on set with these people ...".
... I was exchanging emails with the lovely Amanda Tapping and I asked her whether she might be interested in doing a fan Q&A. Well, I’m happy to report that she’s more than happy to visit with us. And with production on Sanctuary’s second season poised to begin soon, she has a rare/brief window of calm before the inevitable storm. So…
If you’ve got questions for Amanda Tapping, start posting -- [NOTE: at Mr. Mallozzi's blog]. But please avoid duplicating questions that have already been asked. Be concise and let’s avoid burying Amanda under the inevitable avalanche of well-wishes and meandering queries.

Stargate Atlantis / Sanctuary - Buddy TV: TV's Sexiest Men Part 2
At Buddy TV:
(Please follow the link for the complete list.)
#49 Robin Dunne, Sanctuary
You may remember Robin Dunne from such classic straight-to-DVD sequels as The Skulls 2, American Psycho 2 and Cruel Intentions 2. Now he’s the sexy and slightly damaged scientist hunting down monsters in the Sci Fi Channel’s revolutionary series Sanctuary.
#21 Joe Flanigan, Stargate Atlantis
A lot of people may not have watched Stargate Atlantis, but with the sexy Joe Flanigan in charge, we’re not sure why. Science fiction may not get a lot of respect from critics or awards shows, but when it comes to the men, sci-fi shows have a distinct advantage.
#17 Jason Momoa, Stargate Atlantis
The man with the wildest hair in the universe, Jason Momoa is hard to miss, even without his character’s signature dreadlocks. From his days as a lifeguard on Baywatch, we’ve certainly paid attention to him, and the hair simply made us love him that much more.

Stargate Atlantis - Stargate Official Magazine Issue # 26
At Titan Magazines:
Stargate Magazine Issue 26
NEWS
Celebrating Stargate: Atlantis
The latest issue of The Official Stargate SG1/Atlantis Magazine is a 100-page special dedicated to Team Atlantis. We were taken aback by the news that season five would be the show’s last, but reaching 100 episodes is an outstanding achievement that's more than worthy of celebration. We spent the final week of shooting in Vancouver with the cast and crew – see below for more information about this issue’s exclusive report from the set.
The Best Bits
We’ve been privy to some of the remaining season five storylines, and know for sure that there are some of the show’s greatest moments are yet to come! Until they unfold, however, reminisce with us as we celebrate some of the show’s finest moments throughout the latest issue.
FEATURES
Set Report ‘08
In this issue, we bring you the first part of an exclusive report direct from the Vancouver set of Stargate: Atlantis. Here’s a taster: ‘Joe Flanigan, David Hewlett and Chris Heyerdahl [are] filming a scene for the penultimate episode of the season, Vegas. Written and directed by Rob Cooper, and subtitled CSI: Atlantis, the episode is something of a departure for the show. We stand in near total darkness while the scene is shot, and during a break in filming Joe and David both pop over to say hi, looking very dapper in their off-world garb. Not wanting to give too much away, of course, but keep an eye out for Vegas – you’ll never look at Sheppard in the same way!’
Cast Interviews
Our official affiliation with the Stargate: Atlantis cast and crew means we bring you an unrivalled line-up of cast interviews. In this issue, David Hewlett tells us about saying goodbye to his inner genius, we venture into Ronon’s trailer to talk dreadlocks, the dark side and the end of an era with Jason Momoa, we ask Joe Flanigan if we’ll ever get to the heart of John Sheppard, Rachel Lutrell talks Teyla, and Robert Picardo, the master and commander of many an expedition, tells us about his kissably large head, among other things!
Martin Gero
Stargate: Atlantis scribe, movie director, and Rodney McKay’s biggest fan – it can only be Martin Gero. Heading up this issue’s stellar line-up of interviews with the show’s talented creators, Gero talks about writing another season premiere and helming his first ever full episode, Brain Storm. Meanwhile, main unit director Andy Mikita talks about steering Stargate: Atlantis to some of its finest moments, and show-runners Joe Mallozzi and Paul Mullie take time out to help us digest the first half of season five.
