His character becomes involved with Kelly, played by Brittany Daniels—who Jason crossed paths with on Aaron Spelling’s North Shore several years ago ...

Stargate Universe - Homorazzi: David Blue Video Interview + Photos
At Homorazzi:
Getting Cozy with David Blue
Mar 31 '09
Author: Kevin
For all you Ugly Betty fans out there, you’ll no doubt immediately recognize David Blue as the adorable “Cliff” - ex-boyfriend to Mark… and I’m here to tell you, he’s every bit as adorable, fun and friendly in real life!
Homorazzi had the chance to hang out with Mark for a few minutes at the Artist Sanctuary party on Saturday before the Juno Awards and we jumped at the chance to ask him a few questions!
While I think we’d all love to see Cliff enter the picture again on Ugly Betty, David is now working on a new show, Stargate: Universe which is a spinoff of the original Stargate series. Blue plays character Eli Wallace, described as “a total slacker who just happens to be an utter genius with anything he puts his mind to - mathematics, computers, video games. A lack of confidence has left him with an acerbic sense of humor.”
Check out the clip below for some commentary on the character of Cliff, the possibility of an Ugly Betty return, his new project and even some discussion on the current Grey’s Anatomy season!

March 30, 2009: Amanda Tapping Answers Your Questions!
... But enough of me talking about Amanda. Let's let Amanda talk about Amanda. Here's her Q&A. At the risk of inundating her, I trimmed the initial 20+ pages of questions down to half that before sending them her way - so if you didn't get your question answered, my apologies.
Over to Amanda…
... IggyMing writes: “1. I love your strong, intelligent portrayal of Sam Carter. I’ve read in interviews that you’ve described yourself as a feminist. Would you say that your feminist beliefs has had a strong impact on how you’ve portrayed Sam and Helen, and also the kind of roles that you accept? Thanks, by the way, for describing yourself as such, and not shying away from using the “f” word. As well, thanks so much for showing women as strong, intelligent, well-educated, sexy, kind, and compassionate individuals. I’ve always thought of Sam as being a strong role model for all women.”
“2. Joe mentioned the lack of recognition from the Canadian entertainment industry regarding science fiction shows, and SG1 in particular. As a Canadian actor and producer, do you feel that the Canadian industry as a whole has not embraced SG1 and Sanctuary as much as it could? Are you indifferent about this, or does it bother you?”

AT: Wow. Thank you. I am not afraid of the word feminist. It’s been hard fought. The women of my grandmothers generation weren’t considered a “person under the law” when they were born. Astounding. We are well aware that women are still struggling around the world for equality and in some countries for their own safety. So it’s not a bad word to me. I’ve been lucky in my career that I’ve generally been cast as smart strong women. Sam and Helen have both been gifts for me as an actress. So much depth and courage. Sam is a great role model for many reasons. She helped make Amanda a stronger person.

As a Canadian actor and producer, do you feel that the Canadian industry as a whole has not embraced SG1 and Sanctuary as much as it could? Are you indifferent about this, or does it bother you?”
AT: It definitely bothers me. I don’t think Stargate was ever embraced by the Canadian industry. It was always seen as that American show even though it was filmed in Canada and the majority of people working on it were Canadian. We are finding the same thing with Sanctuary to an extent. Even though we are a 100% Canadian show. It may be a Sci-fi stigma, I don’t know. But it is something that we struggle with because amazing work is being done in this country by our writers, producers, crews and actors and our industry, to a large extent, does not validate it.

At GateWorld:
THE LANGUAGE OF EMOTION
GateWorld talks with Neal Acree
Depending on where you live and how the network on which you have watched Atlantis handles the end credits, you may not have been able to catch the "Additional Music by Neal Acree" tile.
Since Season Eight of SG-1 and midway through Season Three of Atlantis Neal has been composing additional music for Stargate alongside the legendary Joel Goldsmith. GateWorld is proud to bring you our first interview with this young composer, who shares not only his insight into how he creates for the franchise, but has graciously shared unreleased samples of his Stargate work in the audio version!
Neal discusses musical selections which originally made him fall in love with the art, his journey to composing for the franchise and, of course, some of his favorite pieces. We also discuss the growing influence of the gaming industry and what the future may have in store for new entertainment mediums.
GateWorld's interview with Neal Acree runs 39 minutes. Listen online at your leisure, download it to your MP3 player, or subscribe now to the iTunes podcast! The full interview is also transcribed [at the link above].

NA: A friend introduced me to Joel back in the day when I was setting up equipment and helping out other composers.
GW: What season of Stargate was this in when you were first introduced to Joel?
NA: I started right before Season Three [of SG-1]. He had just wrapped Season Two. He was moving to a new house and a new studio. I helped him move and get set up in his new studio and stayed on as his assistant, and over the years did everything from mixing to orchestrating to helping manage his sample library. Eventually ended up getting to write on the show which was a great opportunity.

Family Guy Star Trek Interview Part One
With the approaching Star Trek very much on our mind at the moment - check out next issue of the mag - we revealed on Wednesday that the Family Guy team were planning an episode with The Next Generation crew. We love a bit of Family Guy, so when executive producer David Goodman chatted about it with journalists at a conference earlier this week, we were happy to grab the Q and A highlights to share...
A brief excerpt:
When the Star Trek actors provide their voices, do they come over as themselves or as their familiar on-screen characters?
Goodman: They're playing themselves. All the characters are playing themselves. Although I will say that they were all very game. We had fun playing with who they really are, and that Stewie discovers what it's like to hang out with them. It's a different Family Guy twist on your expectations, so I'm very pleased with the surprises in the episode in terms of the journey that Stewie takes with these people.

Stargate SG-1 - Joseph Mallozzi's Blog - In Memory of Christine Mooney
From Joseph Mallozzi's blog for March 28, 2009:
March 28, 2009: Remembering Christine
Whenever I’m asked what I enjoy most about working on the Stargate franchise, my answer is always the same: the people I work with. To the average viewer, their favorite show begins and ends with the actors they invite into their homes every week. The rest of the production personnel are faceless entities, names that scroll by at the beginning and end of a given episode. It’s unfortunate that, for the most part, fans never really have the opportunity to know the many talented people who work behind the scenes. The camera operators, production designers, art directors, visual effects coordinators, and make-up artists to name a few, all incredibly hardworking individuals who give up their early morning, late nights, and the occasional weekends to ensure production runs smoothly and those episodes get delivered in a timely manner.
Christine Mooney was SG-1’s Costume Designer in seasons 7, 8, 9, and part of season 10. Back in 2005, she was nominated for a local Leo Award for Best Costume Design in a Dramatic Series for the episode “It’s Good to be King”, but actually won the award for the episode “Moebius, Part II”. Yes, she was great at what she did, and she was great because she possessed not only an eye for design, but a passion for her work and an obvious deep-seeded trust and affection for her co-workers. There was always a serenity about her, a disarming calmness that instantly put you at ease. And yet, it was always evident that that her patience and soft-spoken composure belied a certain excitement bubbling subtly beneath the surface whenever she presented a design or costume-in-progress. She was proud of her work; proud of her design team. And deservedly so.
She was also a lovely woman, always making it a point to stop me in the hall to either compliment a script, a bit of casting, or the tie I happened to be wearing that day. We were all greatly saddened when she had to leave us partway through SG-1 tenth season, but were all heartened when she made a return visit in early January of this year. Words fail to describe how pleased I was to see her again that day, or how sad I was to learn of her passing late last week.
Christine Mooney was incredibly gifted, an exceptionally courageous woman, and a much-loved member of our extended Stargate family. She‘ll be missed.
~~**~~**
According to IMDB, Ms. Mooney passed away on March 19, 2009, due to breast cancer. Our condolences to Ms. Mooney's family, friends, and co-workers.

At Total SciFi:
(Please follow the link for complete contest information.)
Vote for your favourite sci-fi TV theme tune – and win great prizes!
From the Theremin-laced tunes of the 1950s to the current trend for more subtle, evocative title music, science fiction shows have given us some truly great theme tunes.
But what is the greatest sci-fi theme tune ever written? Just trying to whittle it down to 10 candidates proved difficult enough, and there are undoubtedly some strong contenders that haven’t made the cut.
Where, we hear you cry, is Knight Rider? Or Stingray? Or Lost in Space? Or Buck Rogers in the 25th Century? Or Enterprise? OK, maybe not Enterprise…
However, after several hours of screaming, pushing and sumo-wrestling, we have finally agreed on the following shortlist of 10 candidates. All are theme tunes that are both influential and instantly hummable, and reflect the broad range of theme tunes from the history of SF television, from The Twilight Zone and Star Trek right through to the recent reboot of Battlestar Galactica.
Now we want readers to let us know which is their all-time favourite theme tune from the shortlist below. And as an added incentive, one lucky random winner will bag a cinema voucher, a subscription to the Titan Magazines title of their choice and a goody bag. Your vote counts!

SCI-FI THEME TUNES: THE SHORTLIST
1) Battlestar Galactica (remake)
2) Buffy the Vampire Slayer
3) Doctor Who
4) The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy
5) Quantum Leap
6) Red Dwarf
7) Star Trek (Original Series)
8) Thunderbirds
9) The Twilight Zone
10) The X-Files
Email your choice to dwscifi@titanemail.com by 18 April 2009, after which we’ll announce the poll winner on Total Sci-Fi.
Don't forget to include your name and address!
The small print
The competition closes on 18 April 2009.
The competition is open to UK residents aged 18 or over (though the vote itself is open to everyone) ...
Only one entry per person ...

A brief excerpt:
Death Ray: What's the status of the programme at the moment?
Colin Ferguson: "We shot season three which was 18 episodes, but in two halves – I don't get that! It's cheaper for them, because otherwise people would get raises with the new season. I think that's honestly what they do. It's big business. I've been told very certainly that we're coming back for season four. They're talking about doing 22 episodes. We lose some cast members this year; I won't specify who. Most are coming back next year, but there's some attrition, written in."
Death Ray: What's the theme of the third series [season]?
Colin Ferguson: "The first half of the third series would be the wedding of Allison and Nathan Stark – which didn't go well to say the least! And then by the end of the series, Allison's pregnant, Henry has a long lost love come back and Jordan going off to college. And I have a love interest! The actress Jaime Ray Newman comes in. It's nice to have him fall for somebody. I didn't think it would work between the sheriff and someone who was hyper-intelligent, but they hooked me up with Jaime and it did ..."
