Stargate Universe - Movie Player: David Blue Interview

Stargate Universe: David Blue talks about Eli Wallach

by Sonja Della Ragione

A brief excerpt:

Want to do more theater?
David Blue: "Yes, I come from theater, I attended a conservatory where I studied theater arts and music and there is always the desire to return to that world. The only negative aspect of television is the difficulty of finding time to do theater, the pauses are not long enough for the time of a standard representation. I would love to do some of my favorite comedies on Broadway, but it is also a big fan of some TV series such as pay for participation in an episode of Glee or I'd even go on the set of Ugly Betty."

...Chuck

9/8c NBC

Chuck's got luck, and so do fans of this spirited, spyjinks-laded dramedy, which finally returns with new episodes after a nearly nine-month layoff. Season 3 opens with a two-hour outing, and it appears Chuck has gone from zero to hero, dud to stud, cold to cool. Now possessing new, upgraded Intersect abilities, he trains to be a master spy — but he flunks spy school and his relationship with Sarah shatters. Later, while trying to mend his broken relationship with Sarah, Chuck takes on a mission when Sarah's gal pal and her fiancĂ© (Vinnie Jones) arrive. Another new episode airs tomorrow night at 8/7c. — Dean Maurer

Stargate Universe - Regina Leader-Post: Regina's Elyse Levesque takes on the universe

From the Regina Leader-Post (Regina, SK, Canada):

Finding her calling early, Regina's Elyse Levesque takes on the universe — Stargate Universe

By Nick Miliokas

January 8, 2010

REGINA — Let’s be honest. Most people are fortunate to find their calling, period. To find it at all is a wonderful thing. To find it before you are a teenager is a blessing. “And that’s exactly how I feel,” Elyse Levesque says with a magazine-cover smile. “I feel blessed.”

The future cast member of the science-fiction television series Stargate Universe found her calling when she was 11 years old, and while she probably could not articulate it at the time, she understood, inherently, that her destiny was to stand in front of the cameras, making truth out of lies, bringing incredible stories to life as an actress. “It was almost as though I had no choice,” she says. “It was not a conscious decision. It happened because it was meant to happen. I really and truly believe that...”

The Stargate Universe experience has been “trial by fire,” as she puts it, and while Levesque is still a rookie in many respects, she is encouraged by evidence that her comfort zone is expanding. “It’s getting larger, for sure. It’s certainly larger than it was at this time last year,” she says. “This television series is the most significant thing I have ever been part of, one of the first big steps for me.”

Our complete midseason preview of 31 hot sci-fi/fantasy shows

By Kathie Huddleston
ON 01/08/10

If you don't live in one of the warm states (and are there any warm states left?), it's too blasted cold to do much of anything outside. Luckily, it's time for midseason TV, which can run anywhere from January to April and keep us warm and toasty through the nasty months. New shows are airing, old shows are returning, shows that have no reason to are airing on Sunday, Battlestar's back with a movie, and Fringe is airing on Monday, just once, to annoy NBC as it goes up against Heroes.

Don't have time to watch the 31 new/returning/movie/etc. shows coming up? Are you saying you actually have a life? Well, then warm up the DVRs, TV fans. Here's the midseason line-up of sci-fi, fantasy, paranormal and spy shows.

... Sanctuary (Syfy), season two resumes on Friday, Jan. 8, at 10 p.m.

Even though there are only three original episodes left in the season, take heart. Syfy has already renewed Sanctuary for a third season. In the two-hour finale, "Kali, Parts 1 & 2," a global threat will surface that will affect the abnormals of the world. The team head to India to stop the threat and find themselves facing the Cult of Kali. Also, rumor has it Dr. Will Zimmerman (Robin Dunne) will do an amazing Bollywood dance number. Now that's something we can't wait to see.

... Stargate Universe (Syfy), season one resumes on Friday, April 2, at 9 p.m.

The good news is that Syfy has already renewed the freshman series for a second season. We were left with Col. Young (Justin Louis) stranding Dr. Rush on a deserted planet (well, one with a crashed spaceship). When we return we'll have to see how Rush (Robert Carlyle) manages to get back on the Destiny, and what that scene between him and Young is going to look like when they're first standing in the same room. It should be fun. The other good news, we have 10 episodes left, and producers are promising more action in the second half of the season...

Amanda Tapping answers 'Sanctuary' fans' questions

Curt Wagner on 01.08.10

When "Sanctuary" returns for its third season in the fall, fans will be treated to 20 episodes--six more than in each of the first two seasons.
"It's a huge coup," Tapping told me Monday over the phone from Vancouver. "It's daunting, but I think we're ready for it. I'm glad the first two seasons were 13. It really gave us an opportunity to find our feet and get into our groove with it on so many different levels. So 20, we're ready for it."

She and co-producers Damian Kindler and Martin Wood--the "brain trust," as she said--now have to secure funding for the season because, just as in the past, the production does not have the backing of a studio. Tapping said not being tied to a studio has advantages and disadvantages, but "we're still struggling with that..."

... @amandatapping was happy to spend extra time answering fan questions I collected from Twitter followers. Keep reading for those. Check back early next week to read what Tapping and co-star Robin Dunne have to say about the S2 finale coming Jan. 15.

A brief excerpt:

Michael Shanks guest starred this season. Any chance you'll be able to get Richard Dean Anderson or Chris Judge on? (via @morjana)
I'd love to. I'd love to try to get Carol on too. So yeah, the door's always open.

Christopher Heyerdahl as John Druitt

... Sanctuary

10/9c Syfy

The crimes of Jack the Ripper may very well be cold-case files, but if those close to you know you're the man behind those grisly slayings, that brutal reputation is going to stick, even if your "ripping" days ended over a hundred years ago. Druitt (Christopher Heyerdahl) tries to overcome an image problem of the serial-killer variety when a refugee turns up dead during a rescue mission orchestrated by Magnus and Co. — Michael Chant

Amanda Tapping previews 'Haunted' ep of 'Sanctuary'

by Curt Wagner

on 01.06.10

So what exactly does Helen Magnus see in John Druitt, her serial-killer ex, on Syfy's "Sanctuary?"

Get ready to find out.
"I think you finally see why Helen fell in love with this man in the first place," Amanda Tapping, who plays Helen, said over the phone on Monday. "You get a hint of the depth of their love and the trust, and his passion and intelligence. He was at one point and time a gentle soul, and you can sort of see a bit of that."

In the episode, called "Haunted" and airing at 9 p.m. Friday, Druitt (Christopher Heyerdahl) becomes the prime suspect in the murder of a refugee Helen and the Sanctuary team rescued from a sinking ship off the coast of South Africa. Helen also worries that he's causing some odd happenings within the Sanctuary that have isolated the teams in pairs of two...

.. Tapping and I talked about the Jan. 15 season finale and the show's upcoming third season, which she and co-producers Martin Wood and Damian Kindler are just starting to plan. And she was more than happy to answer all of your questions, so come back over next few days.

By Kathie Huddleston
ON 01/04/10

They're back! That is, Heroes, Dollhouse, Ghost Hunters International, Ghost Whisperer, Legend of the Seeker, Sanctuary and Medium are all back with new episodes. Chuck's even back with a new season, and Battlestar Galactica is back with a new movie.

Here's what we have to look forward to on sci-fi and paranormal TV this week.

... Sanctuary (Syfy), Friday at 10 p.m.

Druitt's back, but did he commit murder?

Sanctuary returns with the final episodes of the second season. In "Haunted," Magnus (Amanda Tapping), Druitt and the team save the passengers and crew of a ship sinking off the coast of South Africa. However, after the refugees are teleported to the safety of the Sanctuary, one of them is brutally murdered and Druitt (Christopher Heyerdahl) becomes the key suspect in the crime.
"If you are fans of Druitt and Magnus and their star-crossed relationship, you don't want to miss that one," said executive producer Damian Kindler. "It features a lot about the Sanctuary and a lot of the history of John Druid. A very intense episode. If you like Jack the Ripper served up heavy, you're going to like this episode."

Battlestar Galactica: The Plan (Syfy), Sunday at 9 p.m.

A movie from the Cylons' point of view

Is thinking about the upcoming prequel series, Caprica, making you feel sadly nostalgic for the original series? Well, remember how the opening of BSG said the Cylons had a plan? Now you can find out all about that plan in this two-hour movie, which was directed by and stars Edward James Olmos.
Writer and executive producer Jane Espenson sums up the film this way: "I keep saying that The Plan answers questions you didn't know you had, and I think that's a good way to put it. It takes familiar events and shows you a little of what happened before or after (or because of) the scene you already know. If you look at BSG as a puzzle piece, The Plan is the next piece over—interlocking with it."

The Plan follows two of the Number Ones (the Cavil modes played by Dean Stockwell) as they take two different approaches to wipe out the human race. The movie, which is already available on DVD and Blu-ray, also stars Tricia Helfer, Grace Park, Michael Hogan, Michael Trucco and Kate Vernon.

Stargate SG-1 - GateWorld: EricK Avari (Kasuf) Audio Interview

At GateWorld:

THE ARCHAEOLOGIST

GateWorld Talks With Erick Avari

For some actors, what they do is strictly a job. They may be great at that job, but at the end of the day, it is still just a way to collect a paycheck. For others, acting is a way of life -- an art form. One that they continue to finesse, fine-tune, and strive to perfect. Actor Erick Avari falls into the latter category -- with roots in the Stargate franchise that date back to the original film fifteen years ago.

Avari was gracious enough to speak at length with us about his body of acting work. In the interview, he discusses how he ended up in the industry, how he landed the role of "Kasuf" in the Stargate feature film, reprising that role for SG-1, his feelings on conventions and the fans who attend them, his personal obligations and beliefs as an actor, and much more!

This interview runs over 45 minutes and is available in audio. It's also transcribed [at the link above]!
