Janina Gavankar was born on November 29th, 1980 in Illinois, USA and she's best known for her role as "Papi" in the tv series "The L-Word". We will see her as "Sergeant "Dusty Mehra" in the fifth season of Stargate Atlantis and we're grateful that Ms. Gavankar allowed us to ask a few career related questions.

S-P.de: How did you prepare to play your Stargate character? Did you watch previous episodes? Would you consider yourself a "fan" of Stargate?

JG: I'm a fan of sci fi in general. It was hard for me not to have a full on geek-spazz-out moment as I toured the sets. We went through gun training on our first day. I tell you, the amount of power and fire that comes out of a full load P-90? That gets you RIGHT in the zone.
