United Artists was established in 1919, founded by four of the biggest stars in early Hollywood: Charlie Chaplin, Douglas Fairbanks, Mary Pickford, and D.W. Griffith. The studio became best known as "the company built by the stars" because of its famous founders and the set of independent filmmakers that distributed their films through UA. In an era defined by the classic Hollywood studio system, where most studios owned their own production, distribution, and exhibition operations, UA was unique in that it gave filmmakers and actors creative freedom and control over their own pictures, while also giving them a share of the film's profits.

* The United Artists 90th Anniversary Sweepstakes begins at 12:00:01 a.m. Eastern Time ("ET") on February 1, 2009 and ends at 11:59:59 p.m. ET on February 28, 2009.
* The Promotion is open to any individual who is, as of the beginning of the Promotion Period, (a) a legal resident of one (1) of the fifty (50) United States or the District of Columbia and (b) the age of majority or older in the State where such individual permanently resides.
* Limit one (1) entry per person and per e-mail address during the Promotion Period.
* PRIZES: Twenty-eight (28) Winners will each receive, subject to verification, one (1) United Artists 30-Film Deluxe Gift Set containing thirty (30) pre-selected DVD titles (chosen by Sponsor in its sole discretion) from the MGM/UA film library (each a "Prize" and collectively the "Prizes").
