Stargate SG-1 - Amazon Gold Box Deal of the Day: Season 9 DVD Box Set

From an Amazon.com e-mail announcement:

GOLD BOX DEAL OF THE DAY

Stargate SG-1 - Season 9

$18.99 (62% off)

Stargate SG-1 soldiers on with this five-disc, 20-episode set from the sturdy franchise's ninth season (2005-06), incorporating numerous changes while continuing to distinguish itself as one of the television's best sci-fi shows. Longtime star Richard Dean Anderson makes only brief cameos these days, after seven seasons as Lieutenant Colonel and one as Brigadier General Jack O'Neill. Stalwarts Amanda Tapping, Christopher Judge, and Michael Shanks (as Samantha Carter, Teal'c, and Daniel Jackson, respectively), are still on hand, but with Season 9, Ben Browder (known to many genre fans for his lead role in the excellent Farscape series) takes over as leader of SG-1, the Stargate project's ace team in the field. As Lt. Col. Cameron Mitchell, Browder effectively projects the same kind of cocky irreverence that was Anderson's trademark, but he has a ways to go before he fully equals the latter's appeal. More engaging is fellow Farscape alum Claudia Black as Vala (Daniel Jackson's one-time love... read more

Stargate Atlantis - Season 5 - Amanda Tapping in "several episodes"

[The SciFi Channel has greenlit 13 episodes of Sanctuary. Please follow the link for the complete article.]

...The series, produced by Stage 3 Media in association with the Sci Fi Channel, is slated to begin production in March. While, by most estimates, the writers strike will be over by then, that is not a factor for the show, whose production is strike-proof because it is based in Canada. Sci Fi's "Stargate Atlantis" is in a similar position and will begin filming its fifth season in a couple of weeks. Tapping, who co-starred on that series last season, will return for several
episodes.

'Sanctuary' in Sci Fi's world

By Nellie Andreeva and Kimberly Nordyke

Jan 31, 2008

Sci Fi Channel has greenlighted "Sanctuary," the first television series to use live-action actors against virtual sets in the style of the features "300" and "Sin City."

Sci Fi has ordered a full 13-episode season of the new scripted drama series, which originated online as the first high-definition sci-fi Web series.

"Sanctuary" hails from the "Stargate SG-1" trio of star Amanda Tapping, writer-producer Damian Kindler and producer-director Martin Wood, who are executive producing the series with Sam Egan.

Amanda Tapping Part 3

Posted by Tony Tellado at 1/24/2008 12:00 AM

Here's more of my complete transcript of my interview with Amanda Tapping of Sanctuary and Stargate Atlantis and SG-1

Amanda

"We shot an episode towards the end of the season of Stargate Atlantis called Trio, which is basically Jewell Staite, David Hewlett and I. I haven't had so much fun in such a long time. We had a blast. He's always been a treat to work with from his early guest appearances on SG-1, he's a great actor to work with. Jewell brings a
whole another aspect. And the three of us together, is kind of lethal. It's amazing that we made it through takes without laughing our heads off."

"When Ben (Browder) and Claudia (Black) came into SG-1, I had been away and missed a few episodes when I had my daughter. So I came into this whole new show. I felt out of my element. "Hey, who are these people, muscling in our turf?: And my back got up a little bit to be honest, like,"Hey who are you guys? Wait a second, didn't you have
your own show?" And then going over to Atlantis where I was supremely aware that it was a possibility that people would be a little threatened by me coming over. So I was very, very careful on how I handled it. I made sure that everyone felt extremely comfortable that I was there and it was their show. I wasn't going to have a huge huge part in it but I was trying to find my way. You know be very quiet about it. It is interesting because I have played both sides of the coin."
