800-plus props, set pieces and costumes hit the auction block last weekend. We popped out to Pasadena to glimpse the auction room floor and were given a personal tour of the CIC set by Michael Hogan. Also interviewed are art decorator Doug McLean and set decorator Jonathan Lancaster.

Battlestar Stars Remember Their Favorite Moments
By Kathie Huddleston - ON 01/16/09
Some moments stick with you forever. Big moments, like when we learned Boomer was a Cylon or when the Cylons invaded New Caprica and descended upon what was left of the unprepared human race. And small moments, such as when Roslin called Adama because she didn't want to get out of bed and they playfully chatted. So many moments that together make up all that SCI FI's Battlestar Galactica has come to mean to those of us who have followed this astonishing journey.
As the show begins its final 10 episodes on Friday, Jan. 16, at 10 p.m., we talked to the cast to find out what their most profound memories of the groundbreaking series were.
A brief excerpt:

Michael Hogan (Saul Tigh)
He lost an eye while being tortured by the Cylons, killed his wife for collaborating with them, and then, horror of horrors, discovered he was one of them.

"The whole cast was there because we were burying the soldiers. It was the funeral," says Hogan. "Adama talks about how we have to be responsible for the things that we have done and at the end of that, we didn't really know each other any of the cast members, and didn't really know what to expect, especially as far acting, because this was first day of principal photography.
"Adama finishes this speech and then says, 'So say we all,' and I guess we sort of mumbled, 'So say we all.' Eddie [Olmos] kind of looked at all of us and said it again, 'So say we all.' Well, we weren't ready for that so we said, 'So say we all.' And he looked at us and said, 'SO SAY WE ALL.' And he got us all going and it was a chilling, chilling time. It was like, 'Whoa,' and by the end of it the whole room, the hundreds of us are just yelling, "SO SAY WE ALL!" And that wasn't in the script. When that was over you were kind of, 'Whoa boy, we're in for a ride now,' because Eddie just kind of looked at people and said, 'Come on. Let's go. Let's get onboard here. ...' Eddie definitely did take a leadership role right from day one and continued all the way through to the end."

Battlestar Galactica - Publicity Stills: 'Sometimes a Great Notion'
Premiering Friday, January 16 '09 at 10pm on the SciFi Channel (and repeated at Midnight, and again on Jan 17 '09 at 9:30am), the Battlestar Galactica episode, 'Sometimes a Great Notion.' (Hmmm...either David Weddle and Bradley Thompson have/or have NOT read the Ken Kesey novel or seen the Paul Newman flick based on the novel. Either way, if the title is symbolic of the novel and/or movie, this may be a REALLY creepy episode.)

Michael Hogan: Saul Man
Michael Hogan, the surly Saul Tigh from Battlestar Galactica, answered a few questions during his guest of honour appearance at the recent MCM Expo in London. He talked to Den Patrick about eye patches, the end of the CIC and being a frakking Cylon.
... Have you been happy with the progression of your character throughout the series? Especially now that Tigh has been revealed as a Cylon…
I’m definitely happy with the progression of the character throughout the series… until he became a Cylon [laughs].
Ron Moore and David Eick have always picked up the phone when I’ve called with a concern throughout all of the five years. So I’ve learned over time to go with them if they insist on something.
The issue I’m really talking about is when they send Tigh down to New Caprica. Well, Tigh wouldn’t leave that ship, and for very good reasons. But they insisted Tigh go down to New Caprica. Well, look at what they wrote for season three; as an actor, you couldn’t get a better meal than that.
So with the Cylon thing, I did initially think it was a cheap shot. Someone told me that there was this poll on the web and people voted on who was most likely to be a Cylon on Battlestar Galactica. Saul Tigh was the second from the last!
Now that’s pretty cheap. I mean, do you make him a Cylon just because it would be a surprise? But, no, they [Moore and Eick] had thought it out. And knowing, after all those years, when they said they wanted me to be a Cylon, I said, “OK, I’ll argue it, but I don’t have any facts to argue with.” This was just a gut a thing ...
