Video: The Thing From Another World - Kenneth Tobey / Dewey Martin

With many thanks to SF Signal for the heads up on the availability of this movie on Google video.

'The Thing From Another World,' stars Margaret Sheridan, Kenneth Tobey, Robert Cornthwaite, Douglas Spencer, James R. Young, Dewey Martin (Squee!), Robert Nichols, William Self, Eduard Franz, Sally Creighton and James Arness as ...The Thing (yikes!).

This 1951 film was my introduction to science fiction. It was based on the John W. Campbell Jr. short story, 'Who Goes There?' This movie was re-made in 1982 at 'The Thing,' starring Kurt Russell. (I prefer the original version, as much as I love Kurt Russell.) According to IMDB, it looks like Universal is working on another version for 2010.

This is definitely a snack movie, so get your popcorn and a coca-cola (or whatever) and please enjoy. This flick has everything ... humor, danger, romance, witty dialogue, and ... Dewey Martin!

This seventh entry into the film series based on Janette Oke's Love Comes Softly novels follows a young doctor, played by Sarah Jones, who faces an uphill battle while caring for residents of a town stricken by a strange illness. Her gender and the townspeople's attitude towards orphans, who seem to be most heavily affected by the illness, present constant roadblocks for the good doctor. Rounding out the cast are Cloris Leachman, Haylie Duff, Patrick Duffy and Lou Diamond Phillips [who also directed the movie].
