Despite the delay, I got in about five minutes before the prosthetics meeting. We discussed upcoming episodes Whispers, The Daedalus Variations, The Seed, and Broken Ties. Among the subjects covered: visual versus practical effects, stunt people vs. acrobats, fog, elements of the visual we saw in Spoils of War, yogurt, and, of course, methacil.

[NOTE: Methacil is a pyrimidine compound, it's most important function being synthesis and repair of DNA and RNA. Hmmmm... - Morjana]

Captain Alicia Vega, a.k.a. Leela Savasta, was in for her costume fitting this morning and swung by the production offices. She’s a very sweet young lady who was genuinely surprised to learn she’d already become the talk of many a fan forum - without even having shot a scene yet.

And - hey, look who’s back! Yep, with the Carl Binder turned up for work today! And he brought us a present: his first draft of Ghost in the Machine. To show our appreciation, we got him a cake and sang Happy Birthday (this despite the fact that he won’t be celebrating his birthday until August). Check out the pics, especially the last one. Have you ever seen a happier-looking birthday boy?

Date of publishing: 11th February 2008

Born in Australia, Claudia Black has spent her youth in Sydney and became famous by playing in number of TV productions in Australia and New Zealand, such "City Life" or several guest roles in "Hercules - The legendary journeys" and "Xena". She also played with Vin Diesel in the cinema movie "Pitch Black".

But she got an international renown by acting Aeryn Sun in the sci-fi show "Farscape" with Ben Browder and with the role of Vala in Stargate SG-1. This interview has been conducted by Renee Burl during Dragon*Con 2007.

A brief excerpt:

Renee Burl: SG-1. Do you miss it?

Claudia Black: I miss the people of SG-1. I made some grand, grand friends and the luxury of this business and the tyranny of it is that you travel. So sometimes that travel brings me back towards them and to them and sometimes it takes me far away. Oviously, e-mail and internet being what it is, text messages, all those things help to stay connected so it's a good time to meet people around the world and be able to maintain those friendships...

The Fall Guy

(Stunt Coordinator James "Bam Bam" Bamford)

February 12, 2008 (Episodes)

Imagine if your day job involved throwing your favorite characters from very high piles of boxes. Well, that's what was on James Bamford's work order when it came to shooting `Trio'.

In Stargate Atlantis' latest episode, three of the City's personnel find themselves trapped in what seems to be an impossible situation. Stuck in a disintegrating mining facility, far from home and with no way of contacting help, Carter, McKay and Keller face their most demanding challenge yet.

The episode was also demanding for the production team. Apart from the challenges of building and filming in a tilting set, it featured some very daring stunts of a sort not seen on Stargate Atlantis before. One particularly memorable piece of action required the team to build a precarious construction of wooden boxes and beams, from which Colonel Carter would endure a nasty fall. One of the crew charged with helping make this scene a reality was stunt coordinator James Bamford.
