The Good Guys - TV Guide Canada: Colin Hanks Interview + Video Sneak Peek

Like father, like son

Colin Hanks admits frustration over looking like his dad

Photobucket

Bradley Whitford and Colin Hanks

Just because you’re the son of an international superstar who has more accolades under his belt than you have years doesn’t mean life is going to be easy, especially if you’re going to follow in his footsteps.

It’s hard not to notice how much Colin Hanks resembles, talks like and even acts like his father, Tom, and it’s something that’s been a source of frustration for the younger Hanks since the 32-year-old broke into an acting career.

But now with new Fox cop dramedy The Good Guys on the horizon and a wedding ring on his finger, Hanks might have found a role to break free from his father’s shadow. (Check out our feature story on the show and co-star Bradley Whitford's awesome moustache here.)

TVGuide.ca caught up with the actor at the Television Critics Association press tour in Pasadena, Calif., this past January to chat about his genes, his stint on Mad Men, and of course, being a “Good Guy.”

A brief excerpt:

TVG: In all seriousness, I know I cracked a joke earlier about how much you look like your dad, but is there a frustration for you in having a famous father and trying to break out on your own?
CH: Well, I could get frustrated all I want, but it sure as hell isn’t going to change anything. It sort of is what it is and there was a period there where it became extremely frustrating because it was never a big issue for me, and so to constantly have it come up, I sort of felt like, ‘Yes, that’s fascinating. I’ve been doing this for a while now,’ as I got older and it kept coming up. I know it’s interesting for people and there’s really nothing I can do about it. There’s nothing I really need to do about it.

Supernatural - TV Guide Canada: ‘Supernatural’ looks to Season 6

At TV Guide Canada:

(Please follow the link for the complete article.)

‘Supernatural’ looks to Season 6

By Greg David
2010-05-13

Sam and Dean return to their roots next year

The final battle is about to begin. In one corner, Sam Winchester (Jared Padelecki), a bunch of demons, Lucifer (Mark Pellegrino) and the denizens of hell.

In the other, Dean Winchester (Jensen Ackles), a legion of angels (led by Misha Collins as Castiel) and those up in heaven. At stake? Nothing more than the future of humankind and earth.

So it’s pretty safe to say that the result of Supernatural’s May finale, the aptly titled “Swan Song,” will steer where the series goes in Season 6. After all, the heaven-versus-hell story arc took up almost every episode this year, and it ends tonight.

Some say not a moment too soon. There have been those (me included) who think the war between God and the Devil has been dragged out too long, what with tales of four horsemen, demons aplenty and dozens of irksome angels.
“Our main concern was not to slice the mythology thinner to drag it out any longer than it was designed to,” says Supernatural executive producer Sera Gamble. “That seems like a mean thing to do to viewers in exchange for making you successful and keeping you on the air. We want existing storylines to run their course, and then we figure it’s our job to bring in new stories.”

... The Supernatural season finale airs Thursday, May 13, at 9 p.m. ET on SunTV/CW.

Warehouse 13 - TV Guide Canada: Humour in this ‘House’

Humour in this ‘House’

By Greg David

2010-04-23

Silly, scrumptious SyFy hit finally bows in Canada

Saul Rubinek, Joanne Kelly and Eddie McClintock

You’d be excused if – at first glance – you thought Warehouse 13 was a lot like The X-Files.

After all, the SyFy series, which debuts Season 1 on Citytv April 23 (in the crappy 10 p.m. timeslot, I might add, almost 10 months after it bowed in the U.S.), follows two government agents as they “snag, bag and tag” mysterious artefacts, supernatural relics and fantastic objects from around the world.

Myka (Joanne Kelly) is straitlaced and by-the-book, while Pete (Eddie McClintock) is off-the-cuff and willing to charge in without waiting for backup.
“Mulder and Scully – are you kidding me?” enthuses Kelly from the show’s set, today a junk yard in Toronto’s suburbs. She’s clearly flattered with comparison. “The major difference between us and them is that we’re not strictly a drama. We much more walk the line of comedy...”

Bones - TV Guide Canada: Roll them ‘Bones’- Kathy Reichs Interview

At TV Guide Canada:

Roll them ‘Bones’

By Greg David

2010-05-05

Author Kathy Reichs pens her first ‘Bones’ episode

Photobucket

For the uninitiated, Bones is inspired by the adventures of a real-life woman.

Kathy Reichs divides her time between Montreal and Charlotte, N.C., where she is a forensic anthropologist for the Laboratoire des Sciences Judiciares et de Médecine Légale in Quebec and a professor of anthropology at the University of North Carolina.

When she’s not doing those two gigs, she writes novels starring one Temperance Brennan that are based on her life. Those tales served as the jumping-off point for Bones, Fox’s prime-time hit procedural.

Five seasons in, Reichs finally took pen to paper and wrote her first Bones episode, called “The Witch in the Wardrobe.” In it, Brennan (Emily Deschanel) and Booth (David Boreanaz) are called to a burned-out cabin, where the skeletons of a modern-day witch and one from the days of the Salem Witch Trials have been discovered...

TV Guide Canada - Stephen Fry Interview

Fry’s ‘Kingdom’

By Greg David
2010-04-21

Famed Brit talks new series [Kingdom - new to Canada], ‘Bones’ and ‘House’

“National treasure” is a pretty lofty title, but it’s apt for Stephen Fry. The towering British actor has been a staple of U.K. television since 1982 when he starred in The Cellar Tapes alongside future House star Hugh Laurie, performing sketches as part of a comedy troupe.

... Fry took some time out from putting the finishing touches on his latest book to give us an exclusive on Kingdom, Bones, a reunion with Hugh Laurie and devotion to his iPad.

A brief excerpt:

TVG: You’re in Los Angeles and shooting a Fox series. Hugh Laurie is on a little show called House on Fox. Is he working at getting you on House in a guest role?
SF: We were going to do that a couple of years ago and it clashed with something I was doing, and by the time I had time to do it they had story arc with a guest character (David Morse’s detective), and they didn’t feel that they had anything good enough for me to do. And then I had the Bones character.

It’s really sweet because they shoot next to one another so Hugh and I have lunch together in the commissary or one of our caravans. I see him all the time, but there are no plans to have me on. He’s starting a new season in June. It’s a great show, and we’re all so proud of Hugh. It’s an amazing achievement.

An Interview with David Blue from Stargate Universe

Pix Princss | 12/1/2009

Hey SGU fans! Last week I asked you to post some q's for David Blue, who plays everyone’s fave boy genius, Eli, on Stargate Universe. He answered a whole bunch of your fan questions, including W-T-F was up with that shuttle at the end of Air Pt. 3?

So listen or download the podcast HERE. I began by asking David what he misses most about being on set, and he gushed about the amazing SGU family that formed during the filming in Vancouver.

He also talks about how he is different from Eli, and his ideas for the show (which include going to Planet Gap where he can get some new clothes). David super-sensitive to spoilers, but he gives some great insight as to where the story is heading without ruining it for the purists ;)

I had a blast talking with him. Hope you enjoy giving it a listen!

Sanctuary at SPACE

Pix Princss | 11/19/2009

Small disclosure: I have a total girl-crush on Amanda Tapping. Not only is she foxy and smart, but she lives and breathes sci-fi. As any one who's met her can tell you is as lovely as she seems. I kind of want her to be my big sister, but I was too shy to ask. She visited us at SPACE yesterday with her partners in crime, Sanctuary co-Creators Damian Kindler and Martin Wood. It was kind of hard to concentrate, and as you can probably tell by the frequency of the Facebook and Twitter updates, it was all kinds of awesome.

... Amanda is going to host tonight's episode of InnerSPACE tonight, discussing Eureka and the upcoming episode of Sanctuary, which she directed. Very cool!

And before I forget, the three Sanctuary creators have given us three signed scripts of 'End of Nights Pt. 1' to put into a contest! So enter now for this great chance to win some excellent Sanctuary legacy material.'

Interview with Elyse Levesque from SGU

Pix Princss | 11/13/2009

Hey SGU fans! InnerSpace spoke with Elyse Levesque (Chloe Armstrong) and she was a total doll. She answered some of our fan questions, told us all about kicking the crap out of Robert Carlyle, and revealed what makes one of her favourite episodes, "Time" (which airs tonight at 10ET/7PT) so great. LISTEN to her interview HERE!

Tonight on Stargate Universe:

An away team finds a kino beside a Stargate on a jungle world, which contains video footage of the team that was shot prior to their arrival. Then, an illness cripples the team, forcing them to quarantine themselves on the planet.

Join us after the show for InnerSPACE, where we take the time to get into this storyline and we investigate some possible theories, posing a question for you, the viewer: What happened to the crew of the Destiny at the end of “Time”? Is this an alternate universe or a time loop?
