Video Blog: Goa’uld Symbiote

May 4, 2010 by David Read

We’re starting off our week with a brand new video blog, this time featuring perhaps the most significant villain ever to Stargate lore — the Goa’uld! These parasitic serpents evolved on an alien world in the Milky Way, eventually taking primitive Unas as hosts and deciphering the Stargate to enter the galaxy.

Check out the little guy which may be yours this summer!

Tricia Helfer's ("Number Six") Red Dress, Michael Hogan's ("Colonel Saul Tigh's") Liquor Bottle And Michael Trucco's ("Samuel Anders") Holsters & Knives To Be Auctioned To Benefit Charities

200 Items To Be Offered On eBay In Teaser Auction Beginning Monday, January 12

UNIVERSAL CITY, Calif. – Tuesday, January 13, 2009 – NBC Universal Television, Music, DVD and Consumer Products Group has teamed with Propworx to offer an unprecedented opportunity for "Battlestar Galactica" fans to own a piece of the show, with an enormous two-day, live auction set for January 17 and 18. Hundreds of items from the hit SCI FI Channel series including costumes, props, set pieces and more will be offered at auction at the Pasadena Convention Center. The auction will also stream live at www.auctionnetwork.com so those unable to make it to Pasadena will be able to watch or bid online.

A portion of the auction's overall proceeds will benefit United Way. Additionally, several cast members have designated specific items that will be auctioned off to benefit other charities.

Tricia Helfer, who portrays the award-winning series' sultry Cylon "Number Six," has chosen her character's iconic red dress to be auctioned off for the benefit of four charities including the Richmond Animal Protection Society (www.rapsociety.com), Kitten Rescue (www.kittenrescue.org), World Wildlife Fund (www.worldwildlife.org) and People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals (www.peta.org). Helfer originated the role of the humanoid Cylon "Number Six" in the SCI FI Channel's "Battlestar Galactica" miniseries in 2003. Her many film and television roles include NBC's "Chuck," "CSI" and USA Network's hit series "Burn Notice." She also garnered the "Leo Award" in 2005, Canada's equivalent to the Emmy Award, for her work on the second season of "Battlestar Galactica."

Michael Hogan, who portrays the series' troubled "Colonel Saul Tigh," has chosen the character's infamous liquor bottle to be auctioned off for the benefit of the Performing Arts Lodge (PAL) Vancouver (www.palvancouver.org). PAL Vancouver is a not-for-profit charitable society created to provide quality affordable housing and support for seniors in the performing arts and allied professions. An accomplished and award-winning Canadian actor, Hogan has appeared in countless plays, films, television series, radio dramas and even opera over the course of his career. Among his many award nominations are a "Blizzard" Award for Best Leading Actor in the film "Nights Below Station Street" from Manitoba Film and a "Genie" Award for Best Supporting Actor in the film "Solitaire."

Michael Trucco stars as "Samuel Anders" on the series, a former resistance leader on "Caprica" and "New Caprica" and then a Viper pilot on "Galatica." Trucco has designated several items including two holsters, a retractable knife and two rubber knives with holsters to be auctioned off for the benefit of Food on Foot (www.foodonfoot.org). Food on Foot is a not-for-profit organization that is dedicated to providing the poor and homeless of Los Angeles with nutritious meals, clothing and assistance in their transition to employment and a life off the streets. Trucco's additional television credits include "Beverly Hills 90210," "One Tree Hill," CSI" and "CSI: Miami."
"The preparations for the 'Battlestar Galactica' auctions are nearly complete and it has been a tremendous experience for all of us," said Kurt Ford, Senior Vice President Production Services Universal Media Studios. "We are really looking forward to offering all these fantastic props and costumes to the fans, who we know will keep the series alive. Between the live auction event and the series of online auctions, there will definitely be something for everyone."
