News

100-Page Movie Special!

We celebrate the much-anticipated Stargate: The Ark of Truth in the new issue of The Official Stargate SG-1/Atlantis Magazine, with an unmissable 100-page movie special! With exclusive behind the scenes access, interviews with cast and crew, and much, much more, it's your gateway to fan heaven!

Stargate: Atlantis wins PCA award!

Up against sci fi favorites like Dr Who and Battlestar Galactica, and voted for by the fans, Stargate: Atlantis took home its first ever People's Choice Award for favorite sci fi show in January. The cast accepted via a video message, which can be seen at http://www.pcavote.com/pca. Many thanks to all those who took the time to vote and make Stargate: Atlantis a winner!

Features

The Book of Daniel – MICHAEL SHANKS

Michael Shanks kicks off this issue's unmissable cast interviews. Daniel Jackson has always been the conscience of SG-1, and Stargate: The Ark of Truth puts his morality to the test: `Daniel's arguing with the Ancients comes to a climax in the movie. It becomes part of the evolution of the story – the argument that Daniel had with Morgan LeFay in The Pegasus Project comes to a peak as well. There's a great scene that Rob Cooper wrote between Daniel and Morgan that really illustrates his frustration in a very different way than we've seen before.'

Designed by James – Exclusive

The Official Stargate SG-1/Atlantis Magazine goes behind the scenes on the making of the new Stargate movies with production design maestro James Robbins. He gives us exclusive access to his concepts for Stargate: The Ark of Truth and Stargate; Continuum, and reveals all about the specific challenges of the shoot. Plus, producer N. John Smith takes us on the Stargate Arctic experience with exclusive photography, and tells us what it was really like to make a movie in the North Pole.

Claudia Black, Julian Sands and more!

Since joining SG-1 Vala Mal Doran has played a vital role in the battle against the Ori. We track down Claudia Black and talk movies, Daniel Jackson, and deadly offspring. Also in this issue, the Doci actor Julian Sands gives us his view on the power of the Ark, and prays that one day creepy contact lenses will be a thing of the past!

And the interviews keep on coming – also whetting the appetite for the new movies are cast members Sarah Strange (Morgan LeFay), Tim Guinee (Tomin), and acting legend Beau Bridges (General Landry).

Julian Sands as the Doci

Issue Spotlight

Robert Cooper

Who better to kick off the movie special than Stargate: The Ark of Truth writer-director Robert Cooper? As ten years of Stargate SG-1 came to a close, he knew exactly where he wanted SG-1 to go next. In this issue, Cooper talks movies and the stresses of shooting, and reveals the exact nature of the Ark.

EXCLUSIVE EXTRAS

Amanda Tapping

The Sam Carter actress talks nuclear subs, Richard Dean Anderson and the difficulties of being in two teams at once.

Ben Browder

The man behind SG-1's co-commander tells us why he doesn't play golf, and why it's best to stay on the right side of Chris Judge.

Christopher Judge

The SGC's longest serving team member talks movies, mountains, and why we'll be seeing a different Teal'c in Stargate: Continuum.

Martin Wood

The director of Stargate: Continuum tells us why he would be willing to throw himself in front of Brad Wright's car!

Special Edition DVD Special

Features director Ivan Bartok tells us what to expect from the Stargate movie DVDs.

Are any of you Tech Geeks in real life?

Stargate Atlantis Cast Members Jewel Staite, Joe Flanigan, David Hewlett and Rachel Luttrell answered (approximately, I couldn't hear the video too well):

Joe Flanigan: "Yeah, I'm kind of tech geek, so it's appropriate I'm in a science fiction show I guess."

Jewel Staite: "I don't know how to run a fax machine, so I'm out."

David Hewlett: "Fax machine?"

Jewel (to Joe): "You are the biggest tech geek out of all of us."

Joe: "I AM the biggest tech geek."

David: "They teletype me my sides."

Rachel Luttrell: "I like e-mail."

David: "You like e-mail?"

Rachel: "Yeah, e-mail is good."

David (in a high voice): "I'm Rachel, I like e-mail." (laughter)

Stargate Atlantis - Carl Binder to do post Missing Q & A on Mallozzi's Blog

From Joseph Mallozzi's blog update for November 9, 2007:

(Please follow the link for the complete blog update. There is a new photo of some of Joe's dogs at the site.)

Friday, November 9, 2007

Oooh, you guys are in for a treat. Carl Binder (Yes! THE Carl Binder!) has agreed to do a post-Missing guest Q&A on this very blog. So what I’m going to do is gather up your Missing and miscellaneous Stargate-related questions (ie. How is your three-part toilet episode coming along?, What is Joseph Mallozzi really like?) through Saturday, send them his way Saturday evening, give him most of Sunday to come up with his clever answers, and then post the responses on a special “Carl Binder Guest Blog Entry” Sunday evening.

Also, I’m sure you’ve all heard by now that Stargate Atlantis has been nominated for a People’s Choice Award in the category of Favorite Sci-Fi Show. More surprising than the fact that we were nominated is the fact that this category actually exists in the first place. Since when? Although, in all fairness, there were a number of other categories that seem new to me including “Favorite Reunion Tour”, “Favorite Threequel”, and “Most Meticulous Animal Guest Star in a Musical or Variety Series“. Nevertheless, it’s nice to see the genre (and, of course, our series) being recognized. If you’d like to support the show and vote for Atlantis, head on over to -
