Subduction Leads to Orogeny's Favorite Five Weapons:
1) Intar
First introduced in Stargate SG1's 'Rules of Engagement,' the Intar are a Goa'uld weapon used for training, as they are only capable of varying levels of stunning the opponent.
2) TER - Transphase Eradication Rod
First introduced in Stargate SG-1's 'Show and Tell,' this weapon was used to primarily make invisible alien creatures from another dimension visible in ours. Later, it was modified to compensate for phase-shifting and cloaking technology.
3) UAV - Unmanned Airborne Vehicle
The UAV was first introduced in Stargate SG-1's 'Enigma' as an airborne MALP. Later, it was modified to carry missiles as well.
2) Time Dilation Device
First introduced in Stargate SG-1's 'Unnatural Selection,' this weapon was designed to create a bubble in space within which time could be either be slowed or accelerated.
1) Sarcophagus
First introduced in the Stargate feature film, and first seen in Stargate SG-1's 'Hathor,' the sarcophagus is capable of curing diseases, healing injuries, reviving the dead, and extending life by thousands of years.

No doubt you've noticed that it's awards season. We've had the Golden Globes, the Screen Actors Guild trophies and, soon after you read this, the Oscars. And, of more immediate relevance, the Nebula Awards of the SF Writers of America in April.
This seasonal fever has affected me in the past, once where I gave out my own awards for supreme accomplishment in sci-fi TV ("The Mikeys"), and, during last year's strike-battered season, a more general look at "Favorite Things"—my all-time sci-fi movies and television.
This year I want to look back at important moments ... those images or scenes that made me a sci-fi writer.
The sci-fi moments ...
... There are many movie moments, but at the top of my list is where the Stargate team led by Kurt Russell goes through the portal—and what is discovered.

Complete screen-used Jaffa costume with working serpent helmet from Stargate SG-1
(MGM-TV, 1997-2007) Stunning multi-piece Jaffa costume with working serpent helmet. A rare and iconic costume from the successful Stargate SG1 television series. The head is constructed of hard rubber with integral helmet to secure it on the actor’s head. A small hidden switch illuminates the eyes to make them glow red. Included are the wool blend 2-piece tunic and pants, rubber chest and shoulder armor collar, rubber breastplate, belt and ornate buckle, leatherette skirt, two pieces of leg armor and two wrist gauntlets. An incredible display piece.

Stargate “Jafar” Staff used in the film and Stargate SG-1
(Carolco, 1994) A very rare Jafar staff weapon used in the Kurt Russell Sci-fi movie Stargate and then subsequently 'handed down' and used on the hit TV show Stargate SG1. This hero prop can be seen being used by the Jafar at various points throughout the movie and subsequently in the TV show. The highly detailed weapon is made from fiberglass, with an internal steel-strengthening rod. The staff has intricate engravings and decorations along the shaft and head and it and has been expertly painted with a bronze finish with a variety of different coloured highlights. In excellent condition with only a few minor scuffs from use during the productions. This amazing original screen used prop is one of only a few still known to be in existence. Measures 84 ½ in. in length.
