Battlestar Galactica / Dollhouse - Hot Cuppa TV: Tahmoh Penikett Interview

At Zap2It's Kate O'Hare's blog, Hot Cuppa TV:

(Please follow the link for the complete interview.)

Tamoh Penikett bids farewell to 'Battlestar Galactica' and Grace Park

Tamoh Penikett has come a long way for a boy from Whitehorse in Canada's Yukon Territory.
"Not bad at all for a little boy from the Yukon," Penikett says. "Where my mother was born is the coldest recorded temperature in North America, so I know about cold."

This Friday, March 20, his character on Fox's "Dollhouse," FBI Agent Paul Ballard, has a big episode -- coming face to face with "doll" Echo (Eliza Dushku) for the first time -- but Penikett is also competing with himself, as Sci Fi Channel airs the final two hours of the critically acclaimed "Battlestar Galactica."

In the series' conclusion, "Daybreak, Part II" (Part 1 aired last week and repeats at 8 p.m. EST, right before the finale), members of the Galactica crew embark on a mission to rescue Hera, the half-human/half-Cylon daughter of human pilot Karl "Helo" Agathon and Cylon Sharon "Athena" Agathon (Grace Park), who has been kidnapped and taken to the Cylon colony, which perches on the edge of a black hole ...

Grace Park's done being a dirty girl

No more blood and guts for Battlestar Galactica star as she moves to The Border

Nov 08, 2008 04:30 AM

ROB SALEM
TV CRITIC

Grace Park is thrilled to be back on Earth ... and not the other way around.

"It is nice for a change to not be covered with dirt," laughs the stunning Vancouver actor, who spent much of the last five years on Battlestar Galactica knee-deep in more than her share of mud, blood and crud.

Make that way more than her share, having been revealed early on as a covert alien android infiltrator – indeed, several covert alien android infiltrators, mass-produced with hidden agendas and often not even aware of themselves ...

You won't necessarily understand any of that last paragraph. Suffice it to say that this is science fiction. And Park, as Lt. Sharon "Boomer" Valerii, has endured enough extreme trauma and drama to last several lifetimes.
"Crying, dying, losing babies, rebirthing in goo, all that stuff," she recalls with a slight shudder. "I mean, it was fun ... "

But so are makeup and heels. Park is in Toronto now, looking coiffed and kempt and in control as the latest addition to the ensemble cast of the Gemini-nominated immigration enforcement drama The Border (her first episode airs Monday night on CBC).

... Vancouver has long been action-central for imported American genre shows. Park made episodic appearances on almost all of them: The Immortal, The Outer Limits, Dark Angel, Andromeda, The Dead Zone, Stargate SG-1 [Proving Ground], Jake 2.0 ...

... But life – terrestrial and otherwise – goes on. "Battlestar overlapped with The Cleaner, and then Cleaner just barely overlapped with The Border, and then Border overlapped with Battlestar again ... so we just did this big circle.
"Going back, finally, I kind of didn't want to get back into all that heavy, dramatic, dark, raw stuff again. I had already realized how much of a departure it's been, to go to these comparatively much lighter shows."

Lighter, and a lot less dirty.

Battlestar Galactica - 24 Hrs Vancouver - Grace Park Interview

At 24 Hrs Vancouver (Vancouver, Canada):

Saying Grace

By GRAEME MCRANOR, 24 HOURS

Few actors will admit picking their profession strictly for fame and fortune. Ask why they do it and they'll no doubt mention passion or art - they might even scoff at the question and say acting chose them.

Not Grace Park. She became an actor ... for the catering.
"When I started doing a bunch of commercials, when I showed up they're like 'Do you want to have lunch?' and there'd be this huge table of steamed mussels and fresh-made bread and salads, just a massive spread," she says, laughing. "When I grew up, we'd go to a nice dinner - besides McDonald's - twice a year. That was it. The rest of the time, we were at home. My mom cooks very well, thank goodness, but if you only go out twice a year and then all of a sudden this is totally available every day and you get a [trailer] ... it felt like I was being taken care of, and it was pretty awesome."

Well, at least she's honest.

These days, Park is as hot as the lunches she loves. She's probably best known for her dual roles as cylon-humanoid copies Sharon Valerii/Sharon Agathon on the cult-hit Battlestar Galactica, her roles opposite Benjamin Bratt on A&E's The Cleaner and as Homeland Security Agent Liz Carver on the second season of The Border...

- Season 2 of The Border airs Mondays at 9 p.m. on CBC. Park can also be seen in her first feature role in West 32nd, which screens at the Asian Film Festival this weekend. Info at: http://www.vaff.org.
