The final season of Stargate Atlantis finally has a release date. TVShowsOnDVD.com reports that The Complete Fifth Season will be available on DVD in North America on June 30.

TV Shows on DVD is reporting that on March 3, 2009, MGM/FOX is releasing Stargate: The Ark of Truth and Stargate: Continuum as a double-pack in both DVD and Blu-Ray formats. The DVD release of this Double Pack set is just $29.98 SRP, and can be pre-ordered from Amazon for $18.99 as of this writing. The Blu-ray Disc version of the Double Pack is $59.99 SRP,
and you can pre-purchase the Blu-ray release from Amazon for just $41.95 as of this writing.

MGM Sets January Arrival for 'Stargate: Ark of Truth' Blu-ray

In an early alert to retailers, Fox/MGM has set a January debut for the latest in the 'Stargate' franchise, the direct-to-video premiere 'The Ark of Truth.'

Picking up where 'Stargate SG-1' left off, 'Stargate: The Ark of Truth' sees the Stargate crew in search of an ancient artifact. MGM will debut the Blu-ray on January 13, day-and-date with the standard DVD...

Starring Richard Dean Anderson, Ben Browder, Amanda Tapping, Christopher Judge, Michael Shanks, Claudia Black, Beau Bridges, Don S. Davis, Cliff Simon, Jacqueline Samuda, Colin Cunningham, Peter Williams, Vince Crestejo, Steve Bacic, Jay Williams and Ron Halder.

"While SG-1 attends the execution of Baal, the last of the Goa'uld System Lords, Teal'c and Vala inexplicably disappear into thin air. Carter, Daniel and Mitchell race back to a world where history has been changed: the Stargate program has been erased from the timeline. As they try to convince the authorities what's happened, a fleet of Goa'uld motherships arrives in orbit, led by Baal, his queen, Katesh (Vala), and his first prime, Teal'c. SG-1 must find the Stargate and set things right before the world is enslaved by the Goa'uld."

Last week we reported that the Direct-to-DVD feature Stargate - Continuum, which continues the storyline of the Stargate SG-1 series, will arrive in stores on July 29th. At the time this date was all we had, but now MGM Studios and distributor Fox Home Entertainment have sent retailer accounts the details on this disc. Our friends in the industry have kindly passed these along to us, so we can share with all of you!




The cost is confirmed to be $26.98 SRP, which is the same as the previous "DTV" release of Stargate - The Ark of Truth. Running time is 99 minutes for a Widescreen (1.78:1) feature with an English - Dolby Surround 5.1 soundtrack. Subtitles in English, French, & Spanish are also on board. In addition, you'll get the following bonus content:

Featurette: "The Making of Stargate: Continuum

Following up on last month's highly-praised direct-to-DVD release of Stargate - The Ark of Truth, fans are champing at the bit for the release of the next feature-length production, Stargate - Continuum. Official word from MGM Studios and distributor Fox Home Entertainment hasn't come through yet, but the scoop we've gotten from our own contacts in the industry is this: the new DVD feature will be in stores on July 29th!


We haven't had a look at the packaging yet, nor any word so far as to cost, specs or any bonus material that might be included. But stay tuned and we'll fill you in on these topics, just as soon as we can!
