Agam Darshi Chats About Her First Year On ‘Sanctuary’

Written by Ian Cullen on June 9, 2010

Photobucket

I recently got the chance to speak with Agam Darshi, who is best known to fans of Sanctuary as newcomer Kate Freelander.

The full version of this interview will be featured on this weekend’s SciFiPulse Radio program, but to whet your appetites. below is a preview of some of the things you can expect to hear from Agam about her part in the show as well as other projects that she has worked on.

A brief excerpt:

SciFiPulse: I heard from Ryan Robins that Robin Dunne is the practical joker on the set. Has he managed to get you yet, and if so what did he do? Can we help you in plotting your revenge?
Agam Darshi: [Laughs] He hasn’t got me yet! I have been an innocent bystander for the most part. I’ve just been innocently standing around and have seen Robin in action pulling practical jokes on other people. So, fortunately he hasn’t really gotten me too bad … except one thing that they were doing last year was they were changing everyone’s names on their cast chairs. So Robin’s name turned into something else. They just moved around the letters! And it became very funny as the day went on. They did do that to me.

Also, every so often I’ll see Robin’s bum appear out of no where. Fortunately, I’ve not actually been a target, but if I am I’ll definitely let you guys know, and you can help plot my revenge.

A Conversation with Agam Darshi

April 2
by Entertainment Examiner Mike Parker

Photobucket

Canadian actor Agam Darshi is currently in production on the third season of the hit sci-fi series Sanctuary. Agam plays manipulative con artist Kate Freelander on the series, which follows the adventures of the enigmatic and always surprising Dr. Helen Magnus, and her team as they track down, study and protect the strange and often terrifying creatures that secretly populate our world and live among us. American audiences have seen the Canadian beauty on television in guest starring roles in Psych and Stargate: Universe as well as on the big screen in such blockbusters as Roland Emmerich's 2012.

A brief excerpt:

Mike Parker – In order to make it as an actor you have to have a pretty thick skin, because rejection is a big part of the process. Yet you scored a role on your very first audition and have never looked back.
Agam Darshi – I don't think you can get away from rejection. I've been lucky. I've had a really good career up to this point, but I've had roles that I've really wanted but didn't get and roles I've been cast for that got cut or re-cast. I've felt the harder side of the business for sure.

Sanctuary - Buzzine: Agam Darshi Interview

Finding Her Sanctuary

Agam Darshi is Con-Artist Kate Freelander

by Parimal M. Rohit

She hitched a ride into an all-new world where abnormal beings and their human counterparts struggle to co-exist, but as Agam Darshi prepares to embark on her second year on a cable series that is beginning its third season, the Indo-Canadian actress can only think about how much she differs from Kate Freelander.

Yet, as Darshi begins to find her niche as a budding screen actress currently hailing from the western Canadian outpost of Vancouver, the South Asian thespian has definitely found her "sanctuary" on Syfy (formerly Sci-Fi Channel).

In playing a savvy con-artist who is hunted by the Cabal and reluctantly teams up with the protagonists in the Syfy original series Sanctuary, Darshi said her real-life personality has virtually nothing in common with her character, Kate Freelander, but that is okay with her, as the Indo-Canadian actress believes any good thespian needs to be able to demonstrate range and expand beyond his or her real-life persona.

"I like to call Kate my personal alter-ego. She's pretty vulnerable under her rough exterior," Darshi told Buzzine in an exclusive interview. "We are very different on a superficial level. I've always been creative, and Kate's really physical. I think Agam is a lot more loyal than Kate is..."

Sanctuary - SciFi Pulse: Ryan Robbins Audio Interview Sun Jan 31

At SciFi Pulse:

SFP Radio Features Sanctuary Actor Ryan Robbins

Written by Ian Cullen on January 29, 2010

The Parsec Nominated SciFiPulse Radio continues its ongoing mission to boldly go where no podcast has gone before and for our next show, we bring forth a howlingly fun interview with Ryan Robbins, who among other things is best known for his role of Henry Foss in the hit Syfy Series Sanctuary.

During the course of our 30 minute interview with the actor. He talks about how Henry is vastly different from the darker and more sinister roles that he’s played on other shows, and also shares his thoughts about Sanctuary’s newest character Kate Freelander, and reveals how he sympathizes with Agam Darshi because of the tough job she had coming to the show so late.

The actor also touches on the role that folks will see him play in the new series Caprica, which started its run on Syfy Channel last weekend, although he was only able to reveal so much.

He says that it is a “complex role” that fans will enjoy.

So why not tune on for our regular Sunday show at the usual times of 10pm UK Time, 2pm PST, 4pm CT and 5pm EST [2pm PST] on Sunday 31, January.

Everything you need to know about this week's sci-fi TV

...Sanctuary (Syfy), Friday at 9 p.m.

Two-hour season finale!

It's hard to believe we're at the end of Sanctuary's second season already. But at least the season is ending with what creator Damian Kindler believes are "two of the most original episodes Sanctuary has ever done." In "Kali, Parts 1 and 2," when all the abnormals in the world begin to behave irrationally, it leads to an ancient abnormal who could destroy billions of lives if left unchecked. The episodes are "completely outside the box," said Kindler. "You will see monster and creature design on a scale we've never attempted before. 'Kali, Parts 1 and 2' are really about a global threat, and we take the audience places they've never been, and we show footage we shot in Tokyo when we were there. And then we take you to our version of Bombay, the ocean depths, the middle of the Indian Ocean. In part two there is, believe it or not, an amazing Bollywood dance by Will Zimmerman." Beyond the dancing Zimmerman, Syfy announced it's picked up Sanctuary for a third season.
