Buffy the Vampire Slayer's James Marsters guests at Supernova Pop Culture Expo

JAMES Marsters - the man best known to millions of Buffy the Vampire obsessives as Spike - is in Melbourne to attend the Supanova Pop Culture Expo at the Royal Melbourne Showgrounds from Friday April 16 -Sunday April 18.

The fan event also features Star Trek Kiwi Karl Urban, Parker Lewis himself, Corin Nemec, Twilight wolf-boy Alex Meraz, a bunch of comic book creators and more.

Herald Sun Hit caught up with Marsters before he flew to Australia, interrupting a Marsters family jam session. “My son, my father and I are all playing ukulele, it’s crazy,” Marsters said.

Marsters, who has also appeared in the film Dragonball, and TV shows including Torchwood, Smallville, Caprica and Without a Trace, had just returned home from shooting a new Hawaii Five-O pilot on the American island.

There are clips on YouTube of you and your son, Sullivan, performing acoustic songs, but your father gets in on the act too?

JM: "He started the whole thing. He’s been looking for a baritone ukulele for years but they didn’t make them anymore in America – or I couldn’t find one. I found myself, surprisingly, in Hawaii for a few weeks and I was able to track one down, so he’s a very happy man. I’m not a ukulele player by nature, but apparently the size of your ukulele is very important..."

Hero Hayden Panettiere Coming To Australia

Hayden Panettiere, the cheerleading star of Heroes, (as well as spokesperson for Save the Whales) will finally make it to Australia to appear at the Supanova Pop Culture Expo in Melbourne (March 28-29) and Brisbane (April 4-5), after postponing her appearances in Sydney and Perth last year due to the then possibility of a Screen Actors’ Guild strike.

... In addition to Panettiere, local actor and musician, Bonnie Piesse, who starred in the iconic role of the young ‘Aunt Beru’ in ‘Star Wars Episode II & III, ‘Attack of the Clones’ and ‘Revenge of the Sith’, will also be attending the expos.

Supernatural star visits, buys undies

Supernatural pin-up boy Jared Padalecki is feeling a little snug in the pants.

The 25-year-old Hollywood actor arrived eight hours late in the country without his bags which had been misplaced en route, along with all of his clothes.

As a result his first stop when he arrived in Sydney was to pick up some new underpants, but for a guy who spends most of his time battling the paranormal on the Network Ten hit show Supernatural as Sam Winchester, buying grundies proved quite a challenge.

"I had to go buy clean underwear with the crazy Australian sizes that I didn't understand," he told AAP in Sydney.

"Sixteen? 18? I have no idea what size I am - we do small, medium and large.

"They're far too small - they're like a thong. It's embarrassing."

He is one of many stars who have turned up in Sydney to greet fans at the Supanova Expo, including Jewel Staite from Firefly and Stargate: Atlantis, Kandyse McClure from Battlestar Galactica, and the stars of Gladiators and Heroes.

The Expo, which runs all weekend at Sydney Olympic Park, celebrates all things imaginary from Star Wars to Superman, Halo to Harry Potter and Transformers to Tomb Raider.

STARGATE: THE ARK OF TRUTH!

EXCLUSIVE SCREENINGS OF THE DVD ON PREVIEW NIGHTS

"Great news for Stargate and Supanova fans alike! In conjunction with Twentieth Century Fox, Supanova is screening "Stargate: The Ark of Truth" pre its April 9th DVD release exclusively during both the Melbourne (March 28) and Brisbane (April 4) Preview Nights!

This is a huge coup and further expands the Stargate presence at Supanova with "Stargate: Atlantis" star, Jewel Staite, attending alongside Stargate novelists Jennifer Fallon and Sonny Whitelaw (Brisbane only)."

Yup... I think I'm doing a panel with Jewel either before or after the showing in Melbourne and with Sonny as well as Jewell in Brisbane - not sure about that yet. I'll let you know.
