Richard Dean Anderson had sent a message several weeks ago mentioning his involvement in the upcoming Stargate SG-1 movie and the new MGM series, Stargate Universe, scheduled to premiere on the SciFi channel this fall. Will "Stargate Universe" be any good?

Ms. Ryan mentioned Robert Carlyle and David Blue as plusses for SGU. And also held up a copy of Kate Ritter's book (Stargate SG-1: The Ultimate Visual Guide) as she prefaced her comments about SGU, stating that she (Maureen Ryan) was a big fan of Stargate SG-1:

From a Richard Dean Anderson web site e-mail announcement:

Updates at RDAnderson.com:

Earlier in the month Richard appeared at the USC Quench the Fire 5K Run/Walk in Long Beach. There he acted as an honorary emcee and mingled with the fans and participants. Fans who attended the event have shared their pictures, and I have uploaded a selection of photos in the Updates section.

I'll have limited internet access over the next week so I'll take this opportunity to wish everyone very Happy Holidays and wonderful things ahead in the coming New Year!

Best wishes,

Richard Dean Anderson Web Site Updates June 10 '08

From a Richard Dean Anderson web site e-mail announcement:

http://rdanderson.com

Richard Dean Anderson from Stargate: Continuum

After taking a break to work on some other projects, I've come back to add more updates to the Lexicon on the rdanderson website. You'll find now that the entries are completed from A through C, and I've added information about the Cheyenne Mountain Complex.

I've also updated the merchandise on the Store page. If any link on that page is used to access Amazon, then anything purchased during that visit to Amazon will count as credit toward the site, whether it was a direct link, or RDA-related, or not. But just to make searching easier, I've added a few more direct links for some of the more recent releases. Remember, Continuum is available for preorder now, and will be released in July!

Stargate SG-1 - Richard Dean Anderson web site update Mar 23 '08

From a Richard Dean Anderson website e-mail announcement:

http://rdanderson.com

I've been working on a few new updates to the RDA website this weekend.

The first was a long time coming. I'm often asked about the charities that RDA supports, and how fans can show their support too. It's been almost a year since I first made the proposal to RDA about adding a charity section to the site, and now after much research and verification I've finally been able to add a page that coordinates some of the previous charity pages on the site. RDA supports many charities, but on this page you will find information about the four key charities on which he has been focusing his attention. The page also allows you to make donations directly to these charities, and it keeps track of the donations that have been made in RDA's name. You'll find a link in the What's New section, but there is also a permanent link on the website's homepage. Check it out! :)

The second update has been an even longer time coming. Way back in 1999 I began the Stargate Lexicon as a sort of information resource for Stargate. I continued to update it through season 4, but then I was approached by MGM about publishing it in a slightly different format. I continued to update the Lexicon through seasons 5, 6, 7, and 8, but I did it as a hard copy rather than on the website, and I sent the copies each year to MGM and the studio, where they were actually using it as a reference. (I just watched the DVD of Prototype the other night, and they actually mentioned the Lexicon in the audio commentary.) The published version kept getting delayed because the show kept getting renewed and there was no way to make it "complete," but eventually all that work became the "Stargate SG-1 Ultimate Visual Guide" (available in the Store section of the site). With all my efforts focused on that project for the last 7 years, the website version just never got updated. Now that is about to change. I am finally completing the updates to the Lexicon to carry it through the end of the series, and I am reformatting all the material back into its original web version.

The newly renovated Stargate SG-1 Lexicon has now been uploaded, but it is still a work in progress. The updating and reformatting is a very slow process, but I hope to add a few more new entries each week. So far you'll see the first 50 or so entries (out of well over 1000). I invite you to view these entries, but please understand that most of the cross reference links will not work until the later entries have been added. Please continue to check back as more updates are added - and be patient! :)

MacGyver - Richard Dean Anderson Web Site Update Feb 18 '08

From a Richard Dean Anderson web site e-mail announcement:

Just a quick little VCR alert to let everyone know that the Discovery Channel's "Mythbusters" series will be celebrating its 100th episode this week with an episode dedicated entirely to MacGyver. Adam and Jamie will be testing out several MacGyverisms from the series to see if they really work.

The episode airs on the Discovery Channel on February 20th at 9:00pm ET and repeats on February 21st, 23rd, and 24th. More information can be found on the Mythbusters website:

http://dsc.discovery.com/fansites/mythbusters/mythbusters.html

I've added the update to the website.

Richard Dean Anderson Web Site: Birthday Messages

From a Richard Dean Anderson website e-mail announcement:

http://rdanderson.com

There are no new additions to the website this weekend (though I am still working on a few!).

However, I've received a lot of messages from people asking about sending messages to RDA for his birthday on January 23rd.

In the past, I have done separate birthday pages for him each year, (which can be found in the Features section), but they grew to become so large as to be almost unmanageable. With that in mind, I tried to simplify, and I set up the Fan Mail site instead where fans could leave messages at any time during the year. The Fan Mail page is now the best place to leave a short greeting for RDA's birthday. (Although pictures and graphics can't be uploaded there, it is possible to include a link to an image elsewhere on the web.)

You'll find the link for Richard Dean Anderson's fan mail on the "Contacts" page, or you can go directly here:

Stargate SG-1 - Richard Dean Anderson Web Site Updates Jan 14 '08

From a Richard Dean Anderson web site e-mail announcement:

http://rdanderson.com

It's been a long time coming, but hopefully better late than never...

I have finally completed a summary of the Avalon 2006 event and added it to the RDA website.

I extend many many thanks to all those who shared their recollections, and to those who offered their pictures to be included. I received many more pictures than I could use, but I think I have managed to put together a representative sampling of the best ones.

I've included "Avalon 2006" as an article in the Archives with other interviews and appearances, but you'll also find links to it from the Avalon news items and from the front page.

I hope you'll enjoy reliving the magical weekend. :)

Richard Dean Anderson Web Site UpdatesJan. 1 '08

From a Richard Dean Anderson website e-mail announcement:

http://rdanderson.com

HAPPY NEW YEAR!

I have been working on a bit of a re-design of the front page of the website. My intent was to make some of features that people visit or use most often (What's New, Search, Forum, Contact/Fan Mail, etc.) more easily and directly accessible from the main page. (There may still be some additional tweaking as I try to make it efficient
without being too cluttered and as I see how it behaves in various browsers.)

You'll now find the newest additions right on the main page as well as behind the "What's New" button as usual. And just as I was prepared to upload the new look last night, RDA sent a message to all his fans, so I was able to upload that as well.

You'll now find RDA's New Year's message, and the new front page uploaded and ready to go.

In RDA's words, Happy 'Eau Ate' to everyone! :)

Stargate SG-1 - Richard Dean Anderson Web Site Update Dec. 19 '07

From an e-mail announcement from the Richard Dean Anderson website:

http://rdanderson.com

Those who are on the Gatecon mailing list will have already received the information about ticket sales.

The sale of Gatecon tickets will resume on January 5th, and more information about next summer's convention can be found on Gatecon's website.

However, I have also opened a special page on the RDA site to organize updates as they are released, so new information about Gatecon can now also be found on RDAnderson.com.

As always you'll find the direct link on the What's New page.
