Episode Guide

A brief excerpt from the Episode Guide's Production section:

"I'm pretty excited about the script I'm writing now, 'Whispers.' We've never done a horror episode -- we did 'Vengeance,' but that was a monster. I wanted to do an episode that just creeps people out. I've always been a fan of horror movies. So, I came up with this scenario. It takes place off-world and there are two elements to the story.

One is the horror element, which I think is going to be very kick ass, spooky and hopefully there will be a lot of very cool scares. Right now it looks as if Will Waring will be directing the episode, so I'm just going to stock him up on horror movies and make sure he gets a good running start at the sensibility that we want to capture. The other element is that we introduce a recurring character in 'Search and Rescue,' called Captain Vega. With Carter gone, I said to Martin during the hiatus that it would be good to introduce a female military character -- like Lorne, a background character to use. So we introduced this character. In 'Whispers,' we end up meeting up with Captain Vega's team, which happens to be an all-female team..."

April 25, 2008: Whispers Day 3

You know what would be awesome? Sleep. Unfortunately, my French bulldog Lulu sees to it that I'm awake by 6:30 a.m. every morning - barking, whining, chewing on my ear and, if I attempt to ignore her, grabbing a corner of my pillow and tugging it out from beneath my head if. So even though it's a late call, sleeping in is only a theoretical possibility for me.

But I'm not complaining. It only sounds like I'm complaining. In reality, I'm having a terrific (dare I say corking) time on set. Will [Waring - the director] is an affable host who, between fielding my last minute dialogue adjustments and assisting me in locating my oft-misplaced chair, has also found time to direct the episode. It's all coming along very nicely (and spookily) and I'm sure fans will be both
delighted with and terrified by the final product.

I'm able to get this entry in early today thanks to a late start which has us breaking for lunch at 4:30 p.m. today. For our 8:30 p.m. dinner tonight, I've ordered pizza and wings for the cast and crew as a thank you for all of their hard work (shooting Whispers hasn't been easy and they`ve been doing an incredible job). All-dressed, spicy chicken, pepperoni and cheese, veggie, and even a couple of ham and pineapples for the fringe crowd.

April 23, 2008: Whispers, Day 1

Our guest cast rolled in on Monday for their costume fittings. Then, after lunch, Christina, Nicole, and Janina headed over to Stage 3 where they attended Gun School. Following a brief tutorial by Stargate armorer Rob Fournier, they donned safety glasses, ear protection, and were then put through the paces: pivoting, reloading, and firing. To anyone wondering, the fourth member of the team, Leela, was skipped the lesson, having already received a crash course in the season premiere, Search and Rescue.
