Stargate - Richard Dean Anderson Web Site Update Apr 27 '08

From a Richard Dean Anderson web site e-mail announcement:

The Lexicon at the RDA website is continuing to grow. In addition to
the entries, which have now been completed up to "Celestis," I have also added the second of the appendices. This one is an illustration of military insignia, rank, awards, and ribbons for each of the main military characters.

Incidentally, I've been trying to include Lexicon entries for as many
cameos and special appearances as I can. There will be many cameos by members of the Stargate crew, but I'd like to include some fan appearances as well. So far, for example, you'll find "Get in the Gate" winner Bonnie is listed, as well as Boomer, who played Cassandra's dog. I don't know all the fan cameos or walk-ons, however, so if you'd like to suggest one, feel free to let me know, and I'll see if there is a way to come up with a character name or description. (I haven't decided yet if I'll be including my own cameo!)

Thanks for visiting!

FAME - INTERVIEWS

Why Amanda gave up baton twirling

by ANDREW WILLIAMS - Sunday, April 27, 2008

Amanda Tapping, 42, is best known for her role as Colonel Samantha Carter in long-running sci-fi show Stargate and she has appeared in all ten series, a Stargate DVD movie (The Ark Of Truth, which is out now) plus two series of spin-off show Stargate Atlantis. She is currently developing her own sci-fi series, Sanctuary, which she will produce and star in.

Q: Were you a sci-fi fan before you started on Stargate?

AT: "I watched Star Trek: The Next Generation but I was more of a Little House On The Prairie fan. It was a big leap for me."

Q: Did you have any rubbish day jobs?

AT: "I waitressed a lot. My favourite waitressing job was serving beer in a biker bar. I got great tips and the bikers were very polite customers. I also worked in a very high-end restaurant and the customers there were incredibly rude."

Q: Have you ever won a competition?

AT: 'I was a champion baton twirler. The prize was just the honour of winning. I got 97 per cent in a baton twirling exam. I did it from the age of nine to 12 but gave it up because I realised it looked kind of dorky. I can still do it now, my daughter found my old baton in the back of a closet so I showed her some routines."

Q: Have you ever been attacked by an animal?

AT: "I was chased by a swan through Hyde Park. I don't know what I did to annoy it, I just think swans have an attitude problem. You just need to give them a wrong look and then watch out."

Interview: Battlestar Galactica’s Baltar — Actor James Callis

Interview: Because this final season of “Battlestar Galactica” is so frakin’ good and totally on the edge we thought we would dig into the SoSF archives and pull out our awesome interview with Baltar himself, James Callis. It will also give our new and old fans alike a brief listen to our dear friend who left us far too soon, Joe Murphy, who sat in on this interview with Callis. This interview was truly one of our finest moments and one of the reasons why we do this as a real labor of love.
