We Peer Into Atlantis' Future

12:00 AM, 21-NOVEMBER-08

... There are only a handful of episodes left to air--meaning more time to explore Sheppard, McKay and the gang.

According to [Joseph] Mallozzi, the remaining episodes will not disappoint. Nov. 21's "Brain Storm" features a guest turn by Dave Foley (NewsRadio) as a former colleague of Dr. McKay (David Hewlett). In the episode McKay gets an invitation from Foley's character, Tunney.

... In Dec. 5's "Infection," the Wraith Todd returns. "The team receives a distress call from a Wraith hive ship that approaches Atlantis, and they're like, 'What the hell is [a] Wraith hive ship doing out here?'" Mallozzi said. "So they go to investigate, and they find the entire crew in stasis and a message from Todd, requesting their help." It turns out that something has gone horribly wrong with the Wraith, but--more to the point--with the ship. The episode is written by Alan McCullough.

"Infection" offers us one other thing. "In that episode, actually, we finally get to see the big bruiser Wraith, the guards, with the masks. You actually get to see what they look like behind the mask. It ain't pretty," Mallozzi said with a laugh.

After that, there are three more episodes left for Stargate Atlantis and a two-hour movie, which will air later in the year. Stargate Atlantis airs Fridays at 9 p.m. ET/PT. --Kathie Huddleston

Twilight - The Deadbolt: Robert Pattinson Interview

Robert Pattinson Says He's in the Twilight of Two Realities

By Jordan Riefe

Up and coming actor Robert Pattinson is about to go from "that guy in Twilight" to a household name in a lot of houses across America and the world when the big screen adaptation of Stephanie Meyer's Twilight hits theaters. Although you can make the comparison to the Harry Potter films in terms of frenzied excitement, Robert Pattinson has much more of a rock star persona than Daniel Radcliffe ever did. Meyer's character, Edward Cullen, not only has the sex appeal that helps young girls discover their womanhood but he also has the vulnerability many girls can relate with. Whether Pattinson likes it or not, he knows his life is about to change.

When Pattinson sat down with the press at the recent Twilight junket in L.A., he revealed that all of the current attention feels like he's living in two existences, as so many know who he is yet so many people don't even recognize him at all. But when Twilight hits theaters on November 21, those two realities will become one when almost everyone under the age of 25 (and a lot more) will know what he looks like and who he is.

While on-hand at the Twilight junket, we also got the goods on how Robert Pattinson is handling his newfound fame, why Catherine Hardwicke forced him to learn to play baseball, what it's like to play such a different vampire, and how his song wound up on the Twilight soundtrack.

So I just grab the soundtrack and see your name on it. Can you talk about the song and all of that?
PATTINSON: It was just a random occurrence. I was playing music last year and I think Nicky Reed gave a CD to Catherine [Hardwicke] and then Catherine called me in and said, "Hey, look at this." And she showed the scenes with these two random songs, which were just recorded on my computer and it kind of bizarrely fitted... And so I was fine, I didn't really think about it. The hype wasn't even as much then, she just started editing.

I didn't know it was going to be on the soundtrack or anything. So I was just like, "Okay," and agreed to it then. Now it's become this big deal and it looks like I'm trying to get like a record contract off of the back, and everything else, and I go, "Argh, no." But I don't know, yeah, they were songs written years ago and nothing to do with Twilight. I thought I'd be able to get away with it secretly and have it under a different name and stuff but I think people thought it was too much like a marketing gimmick. So I go, "Ah, whatever."

Misha Collins Is 'Supernatural's' Dark (But Very Handy) Angel

Today's cuppa: awesome hazelnut coffee from the gas-station convenience store

Earlier this week, I put up a story at the "From Inside the Box" blog at Zap2it about "Supernatural" guest star Misha Collins, who plays the angel Castiel.

... As the Zap story mentions, Collins has a big episode airing tonight on The CW, called "Heaven and Hell." But just for my loyal Cuppers, here's a bit more of our conversation, which took place over lunch at the Buffalo Club in Santa Monica, Calif.

Collins is good friends with actor Zeljko Ivanek, who played his brother in the first season of "24," and they spend time together making furniture, as mentioned in the Zap story. We also talked about shows that Collins likes to watch, which include "Damages" (which guest-starred Ivanek), "Flight of the Conchords," "Weeds" and "Dirty Jobs."

I mentioned to him that "Dirty Jobs" host Mike Rowe gives talks about our current anti-work culture, in which some folks don't invest that much into their jobs and are instead just working for the weekend.
"I'm lucky," Collins said, "that I've never had a job where I'm waiting for the weekend. I always work really hard at what I'm doing, because it's always what I really want to do."

And this includes the work he does with his hands.
"There is really something inherently satisfying," he said, "in actually building something or actually seeing something repaired with your own hands.

"Most of the men I know these days, they don't know how to fix things, and it's really sad. I'm very glad I'm not one of them. There are plenty of things I don't know how to do, but I'm glad that when the washing machine breaks, I can fix it. That's a nice feeling..."

Today's News: Our Take

Supernatural's Ruby: "I Feel Like, Deep Down, She's In Love with Sam"

Nov 19, 2008 04:35 PM ET by Matt Mitovich

Now that she's got nine episodes of Supernatural (Thursdays at 9 pm/ET, the CW) under her belt and Ruby's complicated story is beginning to be fleshed out, TVGuide.com felt the time was right to talk to former Wildfire star Genevieve Cortese about playing the double-agent demon. Might Ruby actually be in love with Sam? What sort of surprises might this week's midseason finale have in store? And what's it like shooting a love scene with Jared Padalecki? Let's find out....

... TVGuide.com: The fans seemed to pick up on that right away — "Something is different about Ruby. Is it simply a new actress playing her, or something more?"
Cortese: If you look at Katie's last episode, you see that while Ruby's not responsible for Dean going to hell, she does have some guilt about it. I wanted to use some of that, though not as a sympathy card. After all, if people don't like her, they don't like her. She is a demon. But I wanted to address questions like, "Why are the boys hanging out with her? What do they need her for at this point?" It's not like she is kicking ass; she's asking Sam to kick ass for her, so it's kind of a mutual exchange. I almost feel like, deep down, she's really in love with Sam. One of the lines in [last week's episode] is, "I used to be human, and I still remember what it feels like." Maybe she was being manipulative, sure, but maybe there's also truth to it.
