Jack Coleman: The Company Man

Noah Bennet, otherwise known as HRG (‘horn rimmed glasses’), is definitely one of Heroes’ most fascinating characters. A lot of that is down to Jack Coleman’s terrific performance, with the actor subtly managing to subvert his wholesome looks and calm demeanor to give the character an extra cold-blooded menace. “I think there’s been an evolution in his soul,” he tells Abbie Bernstein.

A brief excerpt:

HRG has displayed some caution in dealing with certain characters before. At this point, are there still people he’d rather not mess with, or is he just taking on everyone?
When he was messing with Nathan Petrelli, that was strictly under Company orders. [Season Three had] an episode where we go back in time a little bit. You see HRG as the Company Man, a guy who was a true believer and determined to do his job and do it right. You see him reading the riot act to Elle about how you’re supposed to behave as an agent and all this kind of stuff, and it’s not until a little further down the pike that you see how, once he realised that they were going to take Claire, and Claire was now going to be a guinea pig for the Company, that’s when everything turned.

So, yes, there are definitely people that HRG would prefer not to screw with, but there’s nobody that he won’t screw with, I think, if he feels that he needs to protect either himself or his family.
