Don Davis 1942-2008

It is with great sadness that we report that the Stargate universe has lost one of its finest. Legendary actor Don S. Davis passed away on June 29, after suffering a heart attack. He will be sorely missed by all those who had the pleasure of meeting and working with him. A full memorial to the actor who played General George Hammond will appear in the next issue of the magazine – if you’d like to share your experiences of Don with us, please email at stargate_sg1 [at] titanemail.com.

Issue Spotlight

Then and Now

As season five gets ever closer, we look back at a hectic four years in Stargate: Atlantis in the latest issue of The Official Stargate SG-1/Atlantis Magazine. We see how the team has changed along the way and take some time to remember those who have fallen in defense of the City of the Ancients.

Features

Cast Interviews

The Stargate: Atlantis cast talk exclusively about what’s in store for the new season. Actress Rachel Lutrell looks ahead to another dramatic chapter in the life of Athosian Queen Teyla Emmagen; actor David Hewlett tells all about playing fast-talking Rodney McKay; the man behind the laid back Lt. Colonel, Joe Flanigan, talks season five, prosthetics, and those pesky Wraith; Ronon Dex’s alter ego, Hawaii’s biggest export Jason Momoa, on fighting like a demon and turning to the dark side; and Robert Picardo reveals all about the rehabilitation of Woolsey.

Back to Atlantis: Set report

Stargate: Atlantis threw open the doors of the season five set to the world’s press earlier this year, and of course, The Official Stargate: SG-1/Atlantis Magazine took full advantage. We report back in this issue with thrilling tales of vicious fights, wardrobe makeovers and bizarre encounters: ‘Once again, the Wraith are out in full force this season, which is obvious during a trip to a recently completed set. With bloody red walls that consist of veins, sticky sinews, tissue, and stretched-out membrane, it certainly makes a striking, if somewhat grotesque, impression.’

Classic Episode: Sunday

We haven’t had a classic episode in the official magazine for some time, but the feature is back with a bang in the latest issue! Where better to start than with the unforgettable Sunday? Brave, funny, sad, and completely unlike any Stargate: Atlantis episode before it, director Will Waring and writer Martin Gero’s season three episode is, without doubt, a classic. Relive it in the latest issue, with insightful commentaries from cast and crew.
